Tour de Suisse (2.WT) Stage 2/9, 167.7 kms
Jonathan was the first to conquer the 2480m Nufenenpass. If the stage win does not go to one of his breakaway companions he will be the one to wear the jersey tomorrow. Verona and S.Clarke are to be dealt with. The three and Fredrik Galta were caught before the last climb to Crans-Montana. Aru and S. Yates attacked a 30-man pack 10km from the line. In the group we still had two riders left in Ion Izagirre and Guerreiro. A further reduced group caught up with the duo. Inside the final 1.5km, a new group of S.Yates, Van Garderen and Lutsenko attacked. Six guys followed at 30", Ruben Guerreiro was losing about a full minute then. The USA's national champ would come out on top, ahead of teammate S.Yates and Lutsenko. Many pre-race favourites finished at about 1'35". Ruben couldn't catch up with the favourites, but he has definitely taken an imporant step compared to his disappointing prologue performance. Good to see him step up after that poor prologue.

It's really Ruben. Ion finished only a few seconds down on him and remains our best rider in the GC thanks to a better prologue. Lutsenko is just great, among the 3 best allrounders in the current WT.

Critérium du Dauphiné (2.WT) Stage 8/8, 172.2 kms
Andrónico Mendigain sat in the break of the day. So did Bouchereau, Kiserlovski, van Niekerk, Haig, Stannard, Celeste, Terhome and Mager. Stannard would lose contact during the second of the Côte de Domancy ascents. Andrónico and Celeste were dropped on the following ascent. Bouchereau, Mager and Kiserlovski were the strongest in the group. As the three raced towards the foot of the final climb, they had one minute on a 19 riders strong group. Chávarri had secured a spot among them. While Kiserlovski tried to get rid of the others, Eder tried to bridge. Him not being a threat in the GC got him 35" on a reduced pack. The Croat, however, was still going strong. Eder seemed to fail to catch the three. Kiserlovski was on his own near the top. Kennaugh and Alaphilippe had attacked from the pack while Eder didn't manage to maintain his effort. The two flew by him, with the finish line just around the corner. One of them was surely about to deny him the victory he would have deserved. As could've been expected, the stage win was the better sprinter's prey. Eder came home in 18th position and received Alaphilippe's time as well. The mountain stages actually weren't that bad, but a 19th place would've looked very different if we'd had a stage win on top of that.
And hopefully the fun will last longer than two stages there.

Tour de Suisse (2.WT) Stage 3/9, 201.2 kms
Seven riders teamed up in the break. Best-known name was Marc Soler. Barguil, Vuillermoz, Sér. Henao were the first to make contact with the back of that group. When they fell back, it was Kruijswijk who took over. Both Ruben and Ion made it over the summit along with overall leader Van Garderen. Yates, Aru, Henao and Kelderman sat in that group too. As Kruijswijk was still ahead, Ruben attacked. Only Kelderman reacted. The two reeled the sole leader in. Eager to get his a first win in the WT,
Ruben tried to take the others by surprise, launching from very far out. Eventually the Portuguese would quickly strand in the saddle. The stage was for Kruijswijk but Ruben did move into the best young rider jersey. @ both: things have become quite interesting indeed, it's a bummer we came so close to achieving our stage win sponsor goal but didn't succeed in doing so. Six stages left to strike.

Tour de Suisse (2.WT) Stage 4/9, 157.3 kms
José made the breakaway. Greg Van Avermaet, Jean-Philippe Blanquet and Mikko Borbos had the very same idea. Their maximum gap was 5'. The two climbs were too much for Blanquet. With 12km to the line, Van Avermaet attacked. José and Borbos did not bother to react as the still vast bunch had come very close, sitting 20" down on the three of them. At the exact same moment, a nasty crash brought down tens of riders. Among them Ion and Ruben plus many contenders for both stage and GC such as Aru, Kelderman, Kudus, Bouhanni, Coquard, Groenewegen. The pace didn't drop anymore and in the end Stuyven couldn't finish off a splendid leadout by Benoot. IAM's Elia Viviani came out on top as our only rider in the front group was Carlos Barbero. He concluded in 26th. The brutal pace had caused countless splits; those involved in the crash tried to bridge from one group to the next. Most would finish in the 4th. It's a setback for sure, but Ruben doesn't seem to have sustained any injuries. That and still sitting in the top 10, could have been worse.
