TomTom riding his own pace maybe good enough to salvage the Giro, who knows. Even more disappoint for the stage now tho

Put simply, Tom Dom did a shit right before the climb. And he didn't wipe....
Also the peloton have attacked him. |

Can't blame the other teams for riding on here, race was definitely on... I guess shit management is part of cycling
It's sad for Tom D, but the rest of the GC teams can't just cancel the final. The gap was WAY to big, and he wasn't exactly in a major hurry to get back.
A lot of GC guys have ambitions of winning this stage, this has been clear all day. |

This is a cycling race and it would be really bad if the others stopped riding because the leader of the race is sick. I think they gave him a bit of time to see if he would be able to ride hard, but now when he is moving slow, they better go hard to see who will be the best today, and maybe ride in the pink jersey next.
Bad luck Tom, but the race goes on. |

Would be anticlimatic if Tom ends up losing the giro like this

Yes, probably would have had problems in the climb. But lots of if-if. Too bad for TomTom.
Hoping for Nibali third week magic. Don't wanna see Quintana win tbh.

Simple physics: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. TomD needed to stay on the bike, poo backwards and get extra force forwards. Could have easily saved a few watts
