I don't think so. It's well known, that Terpstra can climb really well.

NIKI TERPSTRA ISN'T EVEN RACING GODDAMNIT Pfft.

I'm a real quickstep fanboy. I know that this is Terpstra. I think he can top10 this Giro.

What are you laughing at? You really think that a cobbler like Jungels could climb? He's not even in the Giro...Rolling Eyes

Not to mention that we have one long and hard climb still left where many can happen.

222km stage with these climbs is not where you are playing with your energy sources.
Stage 18 and 19 is most likely stages where they go wild.

Day is young , still action expected at last climb, and I am afraid that final descent. Long day..someone will attack. Not easy descent.

Lol, you are incredible Guido.. this is a proper mountain stage, its how it should be - just unfortunate that Quintana isn't a rider who take chances and Nibali's team is thrash.

And the wear and tear is obviously also very important, for the last climb today and the rest of the race. You are just out to piss me off. Wink

.. and nice and easy? There are 20 riders in the peloton, lmao. This is a damn hard stage.

What wear & tear when Hernandez is leading up stelvio?

Amador descending is godlike

Indeed and there are no domestiques, so it will be mano and mano very early. I honestly don't all the complaints, maybe Nairo think he can take a lot of time out of Dumolin today still..

Still trying here make a point..longer and harder stages don't usually be fun ones.
Give me 120km stage with 10km climb with mountains top finish..there you got it. Wink

Landa and Amador going down so fast.

Great post, Riis.
Gardeccia 2011 is a great example of 200+ km mountain stages delivering.

EDIT: I don't agree with your edit though.

Again, there are only 20 riders in the group. Its a diesel stage compared to the explosive one climb stages, its a very different effort. You know that. ;=

Well yeah theres obviously a few, but as I said, it will be man against man basically on the bottom of the last climb. Which is what a hard and long stage will do if they don't attack from far out at the very least. Wink

I don't neccessarily agree with Riis, but your "short stage" bullshit annoys me.
Stages need to be long, because it should also take endurance and some hour long hard efforts to win a GT, not only these short stages. You basically saw what happens, when in Dumoulin, not the best climber can win such stages.

when peloton wont start action at climb then Landa is strong enough to get enough time gap before final descent.
