Gauduu, what a talent!! Avenir, Catalunya and now this. First we thought Pinot, then we thought Bardet, then came Jalaphilippe, but I can't imagine a bigger GC talent right now as Gaudu. jeez. Shock

Valv really impressive once more, every year it looks more and more easy for him.
The hype train begins

so ez for Valv.Piti. Why the fuck Dan Martin was so badly positioned

This is Dan Martin..he has worst timing engine at cycling. He go's way to early and mostly way to late. Like today..you can not be at 15-20 th. place at Huy when you have 250m to go.
Sprinting after that clearly as second strongest.

Orica tilted me out of my mind. I can't handle this race

They should let your boy to win?!
Fuck this.
Think once as non fan boy. As Sky or Orica team. I have great form Kwiatek, I have great form Albasini. Heck with that Valverde ..we are trying to get own result here.

Greatly don at Valverde. 5 years and no one can not beat on that uphill sprint. Must be amazing for 37 year old

Riis123
Why do you think Kwiatkowski and Albasini can beat Valverde? They should at least have forced Movistar to do their job, this way they basically just played teammates to Valverde so it was pretty easy to control.

Anyways on to Liege...

Kwito vs Valverde for me. F-W doesnt suit Kwito, but this race should be much better and he has been a beast this year. Obviously hoping for Valverde, but no problem with Michal winning.

No

My thinking as a non fan boy is that why the fuck youre chasing down breakaway just to get destroyed by Valv at the finish obviously. Send someone early, try to mix it up.
Keeping pace high was just what Valverde wanted and he didnt even need to use his team that much. Pathetic tactics.

I would like to see our two local cycling masterminds in roles of DSs, they would fail so badly when confronted with reality and they are so clever behind the computer. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, nice finish on the Huy, Mr. uphill sprint winning WC in uphill sprint, surprising. Grin

Teuns and especially Gaudu with awesome results, that boy really looks to be destined to a great career, please dont overhype him too much here, so i can cheer for him...

L-B-L is Valverde vs. Martin vs. Kwiatek in my eyes (well i guess in many eyes). Looking forward to that.
I'll be back

Interesting insight into what it took to win Amstel. https://cyclingti...gold-race/

Take each climb in isolation and the numbers are doable for a strong amateur (other than the decisive Benoot, Gilbert etc attack) but the repetition of those efforts over such a long distance is what sets it apart.

DS's are overrated. They just needed to ride faster to beat Valverde, so simple i can't believe no-one tried it Rolling Eyes
Just put them on Puncher training and boost that HL stat by 1-2 and get the ACC up by a couple. Easy win will follow.

The point is: no team races like that against eg. Sagan, or a similar clear favourite like Valverde was yesterday.

A decent mid-range attack was there, after the last cote Movistars disappeared from the front of the pack, why the hell cruise Valverde to Huy that way?

Lotto and Sky had many options there (Wellens, Vanendert, Rosa, Henao, Kwiato) but tried nothing. I understand more Orica as they only had Albasini and they tried their luck with him in a sprint finish.

Please point me to all those editions, where any attacks before the Huy made sense in Fleche Wallone.

We are not expecting the other riders to beat Valverde on the Mur. No one can. Thats why you got to try something different if you actually want to win.

We are expecting that teams like Orica at least will earn Valverde and his team to be able to win in Mur by not helping them out and basically acting like his domestiques at a pretty crucial point where Movi didn't have much left. That then could have forced Valverde in some difficult situations before Huy.

so they should prefer that..let that breakaway riders win. At least Valverde wont?
that kind team manager wont be lasting long.

None.

Can you similarly point out any recent edition where cruising Valverde to the foot of the Mur lead to a different result than Valverde raising his arms over the line?

As long as they don't want to race for second place, they should have tried something different, just saying.

2013, which is a lot more recent than a long range attack working
