Cant see anyone suggest to downgrade a rider, even though everyone is talking stat inflation

Just how it is ;-)

I am in the "not upgrade riders" camp Smile

Well, we can only suggest stat updates for riders that currently are free agents, which means their stats are too shitty to have convinced even just one out of 77 teams in the game to pay the minimum wage for...

Riders have been upgraded from disbanding teams as well.

Indeed, but in this case of Tamijo as a new guy, and this thread having only had FA suggestions so far, I guess my logic still applies. I was just trying to explain to him why he hasn't seen a downgrade here yet.

The idea got killed last year, but I was in favour of downgrading too strong riders. Doesn't have to be an absolute devestating result, but let's say that if a Summerhill gets released, we reduce all his stats by 1-2? He'll still be a rider worthy of his MG palmares, but he's also a bit more realistic and stat inflation will be controled more.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You are mate imo too much focused on idea to bring closer reality and MG, while i think one of the best things about this game and its whole idea is to have different kind of reality.

Point is, that we need super strong riders also from countries that are not good in certain specialities in real life. We dont need 90% of all cobblers coming from Belgium, we need to cover whole world and all markets with strong riders. So lowering Summerhill in stats is nonsense i would say, why downgrade one of the iconic "MG unique" cobblers to make him on level with belgian luxury domestique?

To the whole point of improving FAs....i think there is no problem with slight improvements here and there, usually with teams/countries/focuses that need better riders in mind. That happened with Ukraine and i think the outcome is good and not destroying game balance. In case of Norway to choose one focus, i think we went over the top, but it can be avoided.

What is worst though is creating a monster from the nowhere with stats adjusting. Yeah, i am looking at you GVA. That was horrible idea and it should never happen again! It destroys continuity
I'll be back

Just a matter of flavour in my opinion. I like realism, you don't. Nothing wrong with either view Smile

I take this ! a good point:

And even if we would adjust fa riders only, I would be against it 100%. Why make riders better? Teams would always het stronger in this case, and that is the base of stat inflation as we suffer from now. Just add riders of a certain age that would make sense as in not being able to max too early, yet not have a 1 year career either, and stop adjusting riders And to avoid further inflation heavily limit the amount of older riders added.

It would, however, destroy a bit of the history. I'd much rather control the new riders than downgrading the existing ones.

As I said, don't kill them, just lower them a bit Smile

It also would be subject to discussion, because who decides which riders get downgraded or how heavily they would get downgraded. I think leaving things as they are is the best way to do it and then just being more realistic of the riders getting put in to future seasons to make sure someone just destroys everything.

Yeah strongly against this I'd hate to see Pluchkin suddenly not good enough to even top 10 in a GT this season after the career he's had so far in the MG I think that once your stats are in you don't get declined for me

With regards to increases in stats of free agents as long as their not over the top I'm fine with all increases to make riders attractive or change their speciality to real life I don't see a problem with it

And that is why you have joined game that has names like Spilak, Pluchkin, Madrazo, Bewley, Phinney, Tenorio, Trofimov, Ponzi or Alarcon as biggest stars? Pfft

The game is fun as it is, but that shouldn't stop anyone from suggesting improvements, I think?

Because the argument of realism doesn't hold logic when applied to the MG. It's not realism, that's where most of the unique fun and depth comes from. Improvements, yes, provided they are based in an applyable logic.

Not without making hundreds of changes to thousands of riders and most of the games base systems and structure Pfft

Well for me personaly, the most fun comes from the high number of player and options the MG has. I see the lack of realism as a flaw, but I can live with it.

Man-Game is basically a fantasy world that evolves around different paramtres than real life cycling does, I dont see how a lack of realism is a flaw in the concept?
