Beñat Intxausti will be a great loss to the team Frown

Intxausti had a great career, with that outstanding 2017.

Winning Liege and Lombardia in the same year is something that only other 2 riders did it in the history: Merckx (twice) and Argentin. He deserved to be in a hypothetical cycling HoF

That's what he'd deserved indeed, and we're not going to let him retire without a proper honouring, thanking him for putting this team on the map Smile

Goodbye Benat, this will be a great farewell tour for him and hopefully a great season too. But the future looks bright!

It does indeed, and he'll be a great addition to the staff. Hopefully he'll be able to win one last time this year Wink

For now he's a big loss indeed, in the future he'll became a great boss though Wink

When I saw the changed thread title I thought you had retired this story. Glad to see that's not the case, but sad to see Intxausti leave! Fingers crossed for a legendary final season!

We hope so too, but it won't be easy as he's already declined a lot Frown

Stage 1/8, 135.4 kms
i.imgur.com/1pNDmDG.png
The first, pan flat stage starts in Alanya and finishes there as well, after having finished multiple loops in the surroundings of the seaside resort.
i.imgur.com/qg7LdnZ.png
Tamulis, Alafaci, Macedo and Yáñez teamed up to create a breakaway. The four worked together well and still had about 2'30" with a little over 20 kms left. The pace in the peloton was upped, as our team struggled.
i.imgur.com/JlYAfHs.png
The formation of our sprint train did not work out perfectly. Cortes lost Molano and Martínez, and we had to let go any hope of winning today.
i.imgur.com/IBlduOa.png
The race got a surprising winner and first leader in Liam Bertazzo. The Italian finally got his first pro win at the age of 27, after a messy sprint. The other two podium spots went to Jonas Dal Korsholm and Martínez.

Stage 2/8, 149.9 kms
i.imgur.com/41MwBAk.png
The second stage looks very much like the first. It's little longer and the finish line was drawn in a different seaside resort. However the list with potential winners can be copy-pasted from the one you used yesterday.
i.imgur.com/PCBbTOq.png
The break also looked familiar. Alafaci and Tamulis were present again, today along with by LA Aluminios' Martijn Tusveld from the Netherlands.
i.imgur.com/LdROMlb.png
The peloton timed perfectly as they were about to reel in the three with 8 kms left. Yet Alafaci attacked the other two to go solo, but to no avail.
i.imgur.com/J0P3qzc.png
Our train was well organised but lost its position near the front because some riders hindered us when dropping back. Juan Sebastian Molano had a big gap to bridge if he were to leave Martínez in a good position.
i.imgur.com/z0Knewp.png
Molano did great, but our two riders coudn't pass anyone because they were using the entire width of the road for the bunch sprint. Vallée won the stage over the new race leader Giorni and home rider Onur Balkan.

Stage 3/8, 151.8 kms
i.imgur.com/btYrJEt.png
For anyone interested in the overall win, this is the first day to step up. After this, only a stage 6 summit finish is expected to cause time gaps.
i.imgur.com/3BR1SZx.png
The riders in the break were four today. Rosskopf, Evans, Quintero and Ceripa attacked at the first climb, but would never get a promising gap.
i.imgur.com/dMRt3t1.png
The four were reeled in at the second climb already. A pace increase in the bunch brought the amount of riders in the pack down to 26. We had 3 of our riders left in Hector Saez, Gorka Izagirre and Eder Chávarri.
i.imgur.com/IQLy6WD.png
Hector Saez dictated the pace at the final climb. Chávarri however did not have the legs to answer a push by Egbert Eijkelkamp. Dylan Teuns, Jan Bakelants and Mathieu van der Poel were the only 3 riders that did.
i.imgur.com/D2bEvMw.png
Things did not get any better for our team, as Chávarri and Saez could not make it back to the second group. In the meantime Eijkelkamp was extending his gap on both the Theuns / Bakelants group and our riders.
i.imgur.com/bocBell.png
Eijkelkamp took a deserved win after having shown to be the strongest man in the race today. Van der Poel gained some time on the others in his group. Eder Chávarri eventually lost 1'07", finishing in 5th position.

A top 5 so far is not bad but we're hoping for a GC podium at least.

In Romandie we currently have three riders camping just outside the top 10, max. 29" down. Smile
