We said it back in 2013 as well, so lets just wait and see.
No in 2013 we said that he never wins Tour de France again. |

Contador: "For me it was making a great stage for the spectators foremost , i said to Nairo for me the gc is secondary because im so far behind, and lets work together because today you can win the vuelta. A great than you to the Colombian fans, im not COlombian but the support from them on the road and on social media is amazing"
LOL. I can respect that. Basically a big fuck you to Froome. |

I am sure Tinkoff is fine with the result today, I think Contador wanted to show he could get back in the race, and he did just that.
It is no surprise that he could not hang on with Nario pulling all he could, very few would be able to do that. The fact that brambilla had diamonds doesn't change that.

Whaaat? Never chellange for a GT again? He is clearly missing strength and stamina and won't win Vuelta but this can be down to the crash in Tour and training missing. To say that he will never challenge a GT again is just strange, especially after a hard day in the saddle where he showed his qualities..
When you look at the spring campaign, you know how strong he still is, and today showed that nobody understands GT racing like he does, nobody! It's actually funny to read such a thing after such a stage where he did great all day long and which is still a great day in his illustrous career. I can understand it when you say such a funeral note when he did nothing and got trashed, but today?? He orchestraded the moves and the BOTD, and just missed the power in the last two kilometers.
I know about the crashes but I just think he is done as a GT winner and especially if he does target the Tour next season. He's older now and his confidence has taken a beating this season all while younger GC riders are coming through. It's not at all strange to think his time has passed, it's happened to all the great GT riders
It's the same thing everytime and the agenda is just boring. He wins Giro but is too exhausted in le Tour and people call quits on him. He was shit in 2013 and people call quits on him. Cycling is just a village of gossip, waiting to push the next cow through the village, and they just love to toss Contador. Anybody who is declaring Contador does not have it anymore is has been saying the same everytime he showed weakness. When will people accept that you can bounce back from a shit form? Form is temporary, class is permanent.
Well I don't remember ever writing him off in those circumstances you mention and agree that people were wrong about that, what I'm doing is looking at the whole picture objectively, he's still a classy rider and capable of good results but it's no ridiculous to suggest that his time might be up, we've seen this happen before to the greats of GT racing so why not Contador? What makes him different to say Indurain? He won 5 straight Tours and other GT's then Bam! He was done, Contadors decline has been slower and he would be higher up in the GC if things had gone right for him bere but I still think it would of been touch and go he wins. Had he not crashed in the Tour he still wouldn't of challenged Froome and Sky there. I'm glad you are defending him as passion is good thing and it would be a sight to see him come back next year and pull off a GT win but I jus don't see it happening.

Wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Tinkov and Vinkokourov were chilling and watching this stage somewhere in Saint-Tropez while betting millions on whether gap between Quitana and Froome in GC after stage will be over 3 minutes, which would explain initial move by Tinkoff and counterattack by Astana. |

I don't like Astana show. If you are the best cycling team, as SKY, your bad day can't be repair by another team. That is bad for competition.
Well Astana didn't really help Froome as they dropped him on the final climb with the work they were doing

I doubt they will respect it. They would probably be left with less than 100 riders for the final week

In my opinion, if the riders finishes 8-10 min down, then they should be kicked out. Being as many riders as they are in the grupetto, they shouldn't lose 40 min, on a stage where the gradients on the climbs isn't even that steep. |

Should all be left out, time for the organisers to show them the time limit is there for a reason.

Don't think they will pull all those riders out. Mostly because Froome would have no team mates left if they did, they are all in the gruppetto |

Time cut is 31:24
David Lopez has crossed the line 42 minutes down Brambilla (more than 11 down on cut time)
Still 90 riders to finish |

Froome also wins.
Contador ? No, it was Froome`s own team today and Contador could not follow riders like Brambilla, Felline, Elissonde, De la cruz
Too bad the best rider has no team today, but he wins anyway |

Throw them out! Not acceptable to rest like that on a short stage as this, rolling roads, 115 km. Its not Gavia + Stelvio + Mortirolo in -5 degrees. |
