I know the qualification process has begun in many continents however the European competition starts today.
England start a new era with a new manager after the calamity at the Euros. I expect us to qualify comfortably again before failing miserably in Russia
How do you expect your countries to fair?
England won 1-0 in Slovakia. Not a great performance but we completely dominated the game and Slovakia were just holding on for the last 20 mins. still, 3 points to get us up and running.

Scotland will get there, by a very slim margin to finish 2nd in their group.
Hopefully I'll get to see Scotland in a major tournament in my lifetime
This time is probably going to be our best opportunity in years to get through, but I agree that Scotland could finish 2nd in the group (probably behind England which will be an interesting game in itself, so much history behind it. I also live in England now so that'll make things interesting my way) . This is their best squad in a while so fingers crossed that it all works out well!
And in the end we just lost 4:3 against Bulgaria, because of a goal in the second minute of extra time
We could be even shared leaders of the group in case of a tie.

Never mention that match in front of a Bulgarian football fan - it was horrible. In the past we ate such teams for breakfast, but now all we want to know is - WTH gone wrong with the Bulgarian football

I must admit that I probably couldn't name a Bulgarian player at the moment. Only Berbatov but he retired from international football years ago didn't he?

Holland were unlucky in the end last night. That goal in the last minute should never have been disallowed. Sweden look like a very poor team as well.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between Holland and Netherlands?
It seems different people/organisations use different terms. I assume it's similar to the difference between Great Britain & United Kingdom.

First of all, ignorance can be bliss!
Whole different story there between England and the Netherlands.
England is England, all of it. Whole bloody island. End of story!
But for Holland/Netherlands, big differcne:
The Netherlands is one of 4 autonomous countries of the the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Holland is a just region. It consists of two dutch provinces.
North and South Holland.
That's pretty detailed, isn't it. See that's why it's easier to simply say Holland!
In a lot of languages in common speech tho, the netherlands are often referred to as Holland. Goes back a few centuries when the County of Holland was the richest, most influential and most important trade partner of the provinces that made up the Republic of Seven United Netherlands.
Even some dutch people use it. Sometimes it's used as a mockery, sometimes out if ignorance and some other times simply cuz it's shorter than "the Netherlands".
