Ruben Guerreiro will sign for Trek.
Quite interesting sign. Has bucket full of talent, and can be quite as good as Costa. And on the contrary of Costa, he has actual explosiveness
Also, Ivo Oliveira, Rui Oliveira and Luis Nunes from Bike Club Portugal (U23 squad) will sign for Axeon.
Is Ruben good as a stage racer as well? TBH I only know him because he volunteered to join my team in the game, and now he may become a future GT winner. Are that the races he likes IRL as well?
He climbs well and isn't a bad TT'ist, but he's more punchy than anything. Imagine him like a mini-Valverde.
Happy for him to read he's really got the acceleration he lacks in-game

What's wrong with new people investing in cycling? I'd rather have this than another Cannondale merger.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

So its a problem that the Kingdom of Bahrain wants to support at Cycling Team? Should we shut down Skydive Dubai as well? After all its a job for the riders and if they can make big money on that team why shouldn't they go for it? Its not like it is gonna get them blacklisted from anything, cyclists are far from most well paid athletes in the first place. If I were a pro I would sign if the money is as good as I expect it is gonna be. I would take the hate from keyboard Amnesty activists. D I think you should look into the way Bahrain handles prisoners but we should keep politics out of cycling and just take it for what it is, a cycling team.

The Deutschland-Tour will return in August 2018 with 4 stages. They have a 10-year contract with ASO and will aim for a world tour place in the future.
On this website you can make suggestions for the race: https://deutschla...netour.de/
That's kind of an double-edged thing. Good to have a(nother) stage race in Germany but:
The last remaing german stage race, the Bayern Rundfahrt had to cancel this year's edition because they lacked the (in sports sponsoring tiny) sum of 300.000€ to organize the race. And they kept going all the time when others left cycling and races disappeared.
And now the ASO comes and creates an new race and the german cycling union immediatley bends over. They did nothing to support the organizers of the Bayern Tour. That's really laughable.
The ASO only tries to further their grip and dominance on pro cycling.
Yeah they are the only counterweight that can oppose the UCI, so yeah as I said there are two sides to it.
About Bjarne Riis: I rather have him in cycling than that baharainian tourter sheik/princess/whatever. But since the UCI with their strict moral and ethics code doesn't bend over to money...I am drifing off the topic. Riis wants to change the system in a way where Teams can earn money in cycling not only dumping it. Will be interesting to follow. Tinkoff said things along the same line.
Which brings me to Tinkoff: I'll acutally miss him, an itsy-bitsy bit, he's loud and has no manners, typical for new money. He talks alotta BS but also some truth about money, rider contract, governing cycling and how it needs to change and he was never shy to speak out. You need that. Lot of the other Team owners/runners appear like yes-men. |

I'm fine with new people investing in cycling but I do have a problem with Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa who is the Bahraini prince who is the main principal behind this team.

I understand your concerns and they are well documented, but I know what I would chose between morals and a big payday for a year or two.

The Prince has very credible allegations of Torture against him, it's not about treating prisoners poorly but actual torture of people who are protesting against an oppressive regime. Saying that sport and politics shouldn't mix is all good and fine but sometimes we can't just bury our heads in the sand and pretend all is okay, this is one of those moments

Really? You would honestly choose a big payday? It's not like these riders would be unemployed if they had the guts to say no to this paycheck.

Yeah I probably would if I have to be honest. As I said I can see your point I am just stating my opinion, would it be unethical to take the money sure as hell would I care if I could make double what I would make on any other team no. Then again I am just throwing around hypothetical numbers and it would be much easier to discuss and chose if we knew the actual budget of the project compared to others.

This. The UCI can't seriously allow someone with that background and allegations to set up a team with the worlds greatest riders, that would be a disgrace. He's a dangerous man, more questions should be asked. |

The UCI have allowed crooked guys like Rijs, Vaughters and Vinokurov to manage cycling teams, so nothing new

Well every sports governing body's role model is the FIFA. Money over moral any day. Dare to say that the UCI isn't any different.
What kinda got lost is that apprently, according to the rumors around that topic,
that Merida guy brings Lampre-Merida's license to that new found torture promoting team and thus Italy won't even have a World Tour team anymore. According to media reports Lampre will continue but the team will go PCT.
That'd be tragic for italian cycling. |

I did like that reading. Mostly Walsh part..UCi part.
Landis is frustrated man though. Still seems that he has not much to hide and shame off left. |

Quite a good read to be fair. Did Landis ever had a autobiography per curiosity? |
