New signing Barbero played it cool in the front group and takes home the win in the first successfull breakaway of the season season, well played kiddo!

Marko Kump winning in the Gold leaders jersey on stage 4, that was after two podiums the two previous day, this bodes well for the rest of his season!

Directur Sportif, Oscar Peirero Sio: With two stage wins, 2 additional podiums and 7th in GC, this was definetely a season opener we could live with! Even with all the leadouts messing up, Kump still delivered when it mattered in the finals. His form looks great atm and we cant wait to see him battle again in his next race, Berner Rundfahrt!

Manager thoughts: Slight hilly sprint fest. Wonder who will lead the team here? Another race which should suit a man with Kumps abbilities pretty well. We are hoping for a tough race here to tire out the faster but fatter(no offence to Guarero and Lo Cicero) men out.

Manager thoughts: The first of our many ambitious goals this season. Actually we only have ambitious goals. Anyway, even with the win goal here we would be pleased with a 5th-10th place from our best hope here, in Slagter. But as we saw last year, guys with similar skillset dominated the race and took the first two places so we obviously hope to repeat some of that success. Funnily enough, the guy who finished second last year, is now riding under our colors with that person being the heavily declined Valverde.

Squad:
Tom Jelte Slagter 68787766717374506171827966

Manager thoughts: Costas first race of the season. It should also be a race that should fit the Portuguese perfectly. Tons of hilly stages + a semi-long ITT means he stands out as one of the absolute favorites, if not the biggest.

Squad:
Rui Costa70718076737272616972666376

Manager thoughts: First race of the season we come in it with no real expectations really. We mainly wanted to take part here because of it being our home race. We should still see what our newly maxed leader in Ablenado could manage here. He could definitely be up to sniffing on the top 10 if we avoid decisive hilly stages. Our new Spanish sprinter will also have his debut spain (fitting, right?) and with the limited sprinting opportunites the race brings, we expect the top guns to stay away – meaning Aberasturi should fit for podiums.

Squad:
Aberlardo Ablenado 67786772737777525165596472

Manager thoughts: Back to the races we expect to excel. And this will be the first test of the season for Bilbao. With the support of 3 guys with 77+ hills, aswell with the worst rider in the squad having 73 hill, it should definitely not stand on the support if he doesn’t do well. Hopefully a few of them will lure their way into and around top 15 after helping Bilbao.

Squad:

Manager thoughts: Last year we had our debut in a grand tour. This year it’s a monument on the menu. And it’s not just any monument; it’s probably the PT race suiting our team the best throughout the entire season. This is basically the perfect race for a guy with Kumps skillset, so we really hope he can deliver here.

Well I love what I see! You´re looking competitve in every race (even Milan San Remo and Catalunya with Aberasturi). It wouldn´t surprise me to see you coming out of February in the Top3 of the PCT, and I´d love to see that happening...

The season opener was really nice by the way, Barbero especially is a perfect breakaway guy and Kump doing great despite having a somehow far from optimal leadout. Bright future for Hugo Boss!

Nice race from the team Smile

Good performance from your team in Australia! We meet no less than 4 times in February which should be enjoyable, given that our leaders are relatively similar in the various terrains. We always enjoy racing against you!

Reimer vs Kump again in Berner Rundfahrt, Kump should win that battle but what will that get him in the race?

We will meet a lot in February, Cool

It doesn't matter, as Bellis is there to beat them both Wink

We're in every race together in February, looking forward to the Costa/Bibby and Bellis/Kump battles!

Woah alot of attention on our team, very positively surprised by that!

@Croatia Thanks alot! Indeed no optimal leadout for Kump yet he still delivers, hopefully 'his men' will improve. Catalunya could be interesting with Guarero as I purely picked the race because of nationality and have no pressure there, unlike the rest of the feb. races.

@whitejersey Nice to see someone from outside of MG following so actively and indeed it was!

@LLS Thanks and same to you, Caruso surely delivered! Yeah expected us to meet alot as we both always had a foucs on mt/hilly races, lets see who can be the most successfull spanish team in PCT this year!

@viking Wish I had your confidence in Kump, Reimer matched him pretty well in Down Under! Wink I expect both to fight for podiums there really, anything less would be dissapointing.

JPH I hope not Pfft Knew avoiding you were unlikely with the somewhat similar leaders. Will be alot of interesting match-upses for sure!

Welp I just came back to site after not being active for a long time so missed out on MG signups, so I am just living through other people and trying to add to conversations Sad

Very interesting that you decided to bring Rui Costa and Kump to MSR, could turn out be a stroke of genius or a waste of a race day on Costa.

This!

Ignatiev will crush him anyway though. Cool

Nice showing in Australia and some strong lineups for upcoming races, you should keep some of front positions in rankings after March.
I'll be back

PCT teams dont spend race days in PT races - sadly. Wink
And classic cost 2 race days btw,not one.

Jans smashing Kump in the final sprint, which unfortunatly for Kump, will he never hear the end of from Jans - Oh and btw, hi Mavic.

A race with lots of expectations. Pretty much the perfect race for Kump on Paper + tons of riders who suited the course brilliantly.

In the end it turned out to be a pretty odd race with tons of attacks and strong riders dropped, while worse riders stayed in the pack with ease.

Kump didnt have the day though and finished on a dissapointing 9th place. One rider who did have the day though was Roy Jans, the new addition started out by getting dropped, before realize that the race was going on infront, then got back on and immidatly attacked, when all attacks were brought back, he still had enough energy to sprint and managed a superb 4th place!

No train, no problem. Aberasturi managed to win the 2nd stage of Eritrea with zero support in the final!

First race of the season with no real expectations due to the strong startlist. But we still belived we could get something out of Eritrea due to the versatile team here with climbers, puncheurs and a sprinter.

However, it was only the sprinter who were able to do anything and won a stage! Which obviously tasted really good.

Rui Costa winning stage 7 in style and thus confirmes the overall win

What a race San Luis was for us! Not only is it our first GC win on a non-mountainous course, it also comes in Costa first race for us (!)

Comming into the race, Costa was one of the two big pre-favourites for this race. The other was Froome and although he worried us alot at times, Costa always managed to minimize his losses very well, topping it off with a brilliant stage win!

No secret this was a huge race for us. It probably sees us catapult into the promotion spots early in the season.
