This stage was specifically made to ensure Quintana wouldn't get his arse beaten by Froome. It gets progressively harder and harder for him to distance the diminutive Colombian for each day and each mountain pass, but the Brit has seemed to take another approach this year. Unfortunately, you could argue, because now Sky's manpower is used to intimidate instead of the more viewer friendly massacres we have seen in the past. |

Another one stage today, where nothing happens in top overall standings.
Froome attacks never on a stage that ends downwards.
All the others are scared (self a rider like Quintana, because he tried in 2013 which was to self-destruction) and dry not attack. Team Sky and Movistar can control all the others.
Quintana is satisfied, so long as he is not hopelessly behind in the overall standings, waits he to the last week, where they thinks he has a chance.
The most exciting is about Froome destroying all tomorrow or waiting to Mont Ventoux. TDF is so boring and predictable, because favorites has almost always too strong team.
The battle for the white jersey seems to be more exciting than the battle for the overall victory. Barguil, Alaphilippe and Yates dry all to attack, Kelderman is not huge favorite and has not a ridiculously strong team.

On another note...5.5W/kg by Impey for 30 minutes up the Aspin after a day in the break is mighty impressive. Expect we might be seeing him again in the mountains even if the multiple climb stages will probably suit less. |

If I was Impey, I would be sad to be forced to work for such enormous kids as Gerrans and Matthews. Give them the finger and leave. |

Perhaps he's realised where he will get his chances and has been focusing on preparing for some breakaway action in the mountains above and beyond lead out duty. |

I feel he could win many more bike races in hilly terrain if he left those two abominations, such a good and versatile rider. But yeah, hopefully he will continue to hunt stages. |

Gerrans and Mathews do make it hard to support OGE in some races. Really like Impey though and was good to see him do very very well yesterday and hopefully beyond.

Van Avermaet is canny. I can honestly see him holding on to this seven minutes for a long time, maybe all the way.
Nah. If he can't hold onto Impey and Navarro they will maybe even get yellow off him tomorrow.
Yeah, but he got into the break in the first place. And besides, Nibali couldn't hold on to Impey and Navarro either...
He's going to lose it today, no doubt.
