I guess the result of the referendum is binding for the GB, thus you cant stay in EU with this result...you will probably loose Scotland and N.Ireland too.
It's not binding, although it'd be a brave politician who went against the result. The plan for many of the MPs will be to manage a withdrawal from the EU, but also to vote for leaving things like the Common Market, the CAP and the CFP intact - the MPs are overwhelmingly in favour of remain. |

But on the whole, I'm ashamed to be British today.
Would love to see a united Ireland obviously, but looking at the voting patterns I'm not sure brexit has changed much:

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

The support bases are very much unchanged - that was always going to happen, and it'll be decades before even the slightest demographic changes take place. I do however feel that if a poll was taken on Unification, those who don't claim to be strongly Republican or Unionist would sway towards a Yes vote, as they seem to be more pro-EU - and will also want to preserve the peace. |

I would not call them idiots from position of guy from another country. They have right to decide about their country, at least in democracy. I said few months ago, that democracy is in blind spot nowadays, imo we will see the shifts into more autocratic regimes in the future...

I personally didn't vote. Neither side had a convincing argument to me.
However to call people who voted leave idiots is completely disrespectful. Especially coming from people outside the country who have no idea as to the reasons the people of Britain voted to leave or remain.
Britain has democratically decided to leave the EU. More people saw a benefit in leaving then did in staying. If anything the EU needs to look at itself and ask why one of the most powerful countries in the union has decided to leave. Britain won't break up as a result of this but if the EU isn't careful then Europe will. The EU has lost much more than Britain has as a result of this decision.
Everyone in Europe has spent the last 18 months saying Britain isn't important to the EU. Now I guess we'll see how much truth there is in that. |

They are idiots, the lies I've read coming from the leave camp are just horrible. If people make up their opinion without checking the facts, they're idiots. And as this is a losing situation for both the UK and the rest of the EU, I think I'm entitled to voice my opinion on this. The EU has lost more than Britain? Take a look at how your Pound is doing..

Yeah, the day after a major event. Same as any currency fluctuates on a daily basis.
To claim the pound has failed the day after a major event is pathetic. No one knows how Britain will fair as an independent country. In a couple of weeks everything will have settled down and everything will be back to normal. |

^ A huge proportion of Scotland wanted to remain, so they have to have another referendum.
(Sigh) How disappointing.
We had groups as diverse as Greenpeace, travel companies, the Church of England, Bank of England ... all behind remain because we were in stronger in the EU. Yet what chance did they stand with Murdoch and his cronies selling the idea ' We are stronger alone'.
One of the saddest things about this is the fact I doubt many people even knew what they were voting for. Where I come from, in the North, most people (labour supporters) voted to leave: a lot because they confused Conservative policies (large cuts etc) from our government with the policies of the EU.
The question was do you prefer the EU policies over the UK elected government's. Hmm: Yes I do. Human rights, legislation to protect the environment - the best policies for me came from the EU. eg. The EU put bans on neonics/pesticides (which have been linked to cancer and declines in bird species) whereas the conservation government lifted the ban due to lobbying from the likes of Monsanto.
Now, with a pending far-right conservation gov - not looking too good. |

That's true I suppose, but I don't share your optimism. Everyone is a loser today. Well, maybe Beijing is laughing.

As I've said, I honestly don't think Britain will leave. The EU will make concessions and a second referendum will be called. The EU can't afford for Britain to leave. |

If someone is laughing, it is Kremlin.

The plan currently on the table is to ditch Britain and then make the reforms to keep countries like Holland and Denmark on board. Not a single politician is talking about renegotiating with Britain. The only shot Britain has of staying in the EU is that your new PM will be elected on a ticket that decides to ignore this (non-binding) referendum and cancel the whole Brexit.

Which would be a terrible example of ditching the democracy principles and thus will not ever happen.

That is what they say publicly. I bet it's a completely different story behind closed doors.
Nobody knows what will happen. In all honesty the effects will most likely be not as significant as everyone seems to think. Life will go on. Britain and Europe will still exist. Their relationship will just be a little different, which will take some getting used to, but will ultimately work out.
Britain and Europe need each other. Ultimately Britain decided to take back it's independence but it is still a significant member of Europe. Europe cannot afford to cut off Britain. New deals will be made and life will go on. |

Democracy is overrated, UK proved it today and USA will prove it at the end of the year by electing Trump.

Yes, dictatorships are much better as they would eliminate the possibility of the population having their say as has happened in this election
Much easier for the rich to control those pesky plebs. |
