Will be in my opinion even the hardest possible opponent, they defend really well.

It's a mystery to me how Belgium believes they can actually win this thing with this team. Even reaching the final is a few steps ahead of themselves.

Based on the football I've seen and some personal preferences, I'm hoping for either a Germany - Kroatia final, or of course a Spain - Kroatia final.

The draw looks ridiculous. One side has Germany, Italy, Spain, France and England while the other has almost no big nations.

Means a team like Croatia, Poland or Wales is almost guaranteed to be in the final.

And this is a bad thing because...
Wales and Croatia both finished above England and Spain and were much better teams.
What's more, is this tournament not now more open? Will the standard of football not go up with big teams having to slog it out against each other as oppose to going through the motions?
EDIT: What you just said, basically.

Contrary to what a lot of people have been saying, I think the whole third placed teams qualifying have made this tournament more exciting. Especially the last couple of days. Now with England and Spain messing up, the bottom half of the draw looks ominous. Also, we're almost guaranteed to have a first time finalist from the top half unless Portugal can really up their game.

Are you being serious? I take it you didn't watch the England-Wales game then?

Wales finished above England because every team in the group parked the bus against England and played for a draw. England deserved to finish second because they failed to break 2 of the teams down. But England were by far the best team in the group.

I don't. It's made it worse. Teams can play for 3 0-0 draws and qualify. It's lead to the most defence dominated and lowest scoring competition the last 25 years.

Opinions differ, but I don't think the crazy results of yesterday would've happened if it was the old format. Not saying that this format is exactly the way to go in the future, as 16 teams for a continental tournament seems enough, but personally haven't found it all bad.

If it had been the old system Portugal would have had to play for a win and it would have been an even better game. When it got to 3-3 both teams knew it was enough to qualify and they stopped playing.

Northern Ireland V Germany. Northern Ireland knew as long as they didn't lose by 3 they were through. They made no attempt to attack in the whole game, even when they went 1 down. In the old system they would have had to at least try to get a positive result.

This system rewards negative play. Northern Ireland were playing for a defeat of less that 3 goals. How is that system conductive to an attractive tournament?

Like I said, this is not the way to go for the future. You are right that Portugal stopped playing post 75 mins to protect what they had. Northern Ireland on the other hand were hammered, don't think the format would've made much difference.
As far as it not being an attractive tournament is concerned, that is also down to the failure of the attacking players. Only a few have played anywhere near their true potential. It is not like defenders are expected to roll over.

I agree that England were unlucky and played very well, especially against Russia. But ultimately, Wales, considering the sum of their parts, were able to break down teams. Whether or not their opponents played for draws, they played on the front foot against Russia and Slovakia and it worked.
However, I do believe they peaked against Russia.

No, Wales was better than overrated England, sport is about winning, not about how to do.

For me Poles wasn't deserved for victory, Lewandowski was playing very weakly today.
