Pre Tour de France 2016-thread
jandal7
I see have I much debate to read through, expect "jandal's jandaly guide to Le Tour" this weekend Pfft
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

When Stybar takes a turn in the lead-out, the entire peloton gets stretched out. He'll be missed.

But has rightly so turned down that offer in pursuit of own goals, good on him

Not saying he has to do it. But saying he'll be missed.
And also wanting to say that working as a lead-out is definitely no low or something. A true champion knows when to work for his team mates, too Wink

Fear the Olympics course will be too hard for Stybar anyway.

Riis123
Meh, Stybar is much better than slaving through 3 weeks. Realistically, he will be given an opportunity on either stage 10 or 16 at best. Not really worth, I understand him completely.

And the Olympics course will definitely be too hard, no chances at all. Its no kitty's route. Wink

Riis123
Also, Ilnur the great will be present. That leaves Katusha with a very decent squad consisting of Purito, Zakarin and Alexander. Everyone will probably hunt stages, I refuse to believe Zakarin and/or Rodriguez will be present in the GC.

He said he is aiming to Rio not neccesarily as the leader, he is ready to help someone (Kreuziger?) there if needed. Just pointed it out as his big mid-season race...
I'll be back

Terpstra could've made it but he kinda took himself out at ZLM Tour as he banged his knee in the teambus before the prologue

It was expected, but it doesn't make the line up any less scary..

Chris Froome
Sergio Henao
Vasil Kirijenka
Mikel Landa
Mikel Nieve
Wout Poels
Luke Rowe
Ian Stannard
Geraint Thomas
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Riis123
Yup, very much expected after Kwito's sickness and Vasili's performance in Suisse.

Its possible the best team I can remember to support a leader, like ever. You can probably look at some US Postal squads, but this is downright scary. Well balanced team also.

Holy shit Wilco will feel alone Grin

Vanmarcke showing some good form should be quite a threat in some breaks, but Groenwegen is the man. He can breakthrough this Tour to higher elites of sprinters and the team is definitely there to help him do that.

FDJ: Thibaut Pinot, Arthur Vichot, Jéremy Roy, Matthieu Ladagnous, Anthony Roux, William Bonnet, Steve Morabito, Sébastien Reichenbach y Jerome Pineau.

No Demare, surely has to be an error, no?

Given Kelderman's performances in the mountains this season, I doubt he will be able to ride for the GC.

Groenewegen stepping up as one of the best sprinters would be awesome though.

And does anybody have a clue to why Demare isn't selected or have I completely missed something?

Demare now considers he needs a full team dedicated to him and as FDJ will focus on Thibaut Pinot in le Tour, he decided to take part in the giro instead. Now his main goals are at the end of the season with the World Championships in sight. This was in fact well established since the beginning of the season Wink

Kirchen_75
I get that Pinot needs a team around him but surely it wouldn't be a problem to whack Demare in there and he would just sit on other sprinters wheels?
