I think Dombrowski will be a Nieve type (he already kind is). A super domestique in high mountains, a diesel, potential stage winner when he is allowed to go and occasionally top-10 here and there. |

Talansky ceiling is top-10. At least in the Tour, he can realistically do better in Vuelta and Giro, but not by super much.
I have no clue in what order, but Quintana, Chaves and Lopez are my favourites for the Vuelta. Froome is also in the mix and will probably get on the podium if not for misfortunes. Rodriguez is always a threat with this route, but the ITT is too much. Ion can top-5 on the course, but will probably never be a reliable GT-rider in the high mountains. |

As a next spanish GT champion my bet would go on Ruben Fernandez if any of those current riders have a chance

Of the Spanish generation, Landa seems to be the most probable. Then you have L' Avenir winners as Soler and Fernandez, but I've been disappointed by Fernandez so far. He will go to the Vuelta, so lets see his progress there. Also keep an eye on Carlos Verona. One of my friends knows him personally and speaks very highly of him, just like he did of Landa before his Giro breakthrough. Soler took an impressive win the other day, he may need to look out for him also.
And then there's Izagirre. Many question will be answered this year about him |

I think it's time to get this thread back on...
Who's impressed the most this year? Chaves, Bardet, Adam or Simon? And who wins a GT first among these guys?
Personally, despite Bardet's 2nd place at the Tour, and kudos to him for that, I think it'll either be Chaves or Adam Yates striking first.
Also, on evidence of this year, I don't think Landa's gonna win anything riding for Sky. They're too focused on Froome's GT prospects. Either they'll send a weak team with Landa to Giro, like this year or Landa will tire himself out having ridden one the earlier GTs for Froome to be competitive in the Vuelta. Which is quite sad, given his potential.
Pinot also seems to have gone backwards in the latter part of this year after a bright start. He should go after the Giro I believe, not the Tour yet.

Probably Chaves. Bardet will continue do ride TdF for a French team as a French rider, while Chaves hopefully will continue with the Giro-Vuelta schedule until he wins one. They also have both the Yates-brothers, so he shouldn't be forced by sponsors. Then you have Kraswijk and I think I read Pinot as well going to the Giro which is their chance to win a GT - worse riders have won in the past, but the Giro 2016 will be no walkover whatsoever.
The Yates' have also surprised this year, but I actually doubt weather one of them will win a GT. They remind me of a slightly lesser talented brothers than the Schlecks for some reason. |

I also get the feeling either Chaves or the Yates' will end up leaving Orica in search of a more dedicated team. Right now, even with them going separate ways in the GCs, the support isn't strong enough to keep all of them in contention on the tough mountains in each GC. It would a difficult decision for Orica to choose the lead rider. The concept of two leaders in a GT does not work out for most teams.

Hoping for a star-studded Giro next year
They have good protection for the flatlands and hills with the support in the mountains for Chaves and the 2 Yates improving, Kreuziger and Verona have been brought in for next season, Howson is developing well this year and I'd expect him to keep improving next season, Haig is a big climbing talent and I'd expect him to step up next season to provide useful support, Power is back racing so all going well we should see him in a GT next season, Plaza still has good days. Plus OBE have some very good backroom guys like White and Stephens.

While I do think OBE will challenge the top of the classifications next year, I doubt all three of them, Chaves and the Yates' will stick around together for very long. Can see Chaves moving away maybe as early as 2018.

Chaves seems the likeliest to me though, for a first timer. Given Orica's team and his recent results. No repeat for Kruijswijk I'm afraid.

I don't know if Aru is already seen as one, but i see him likely to be more successful than Nibali has been in the three week races. I also have high hopes for Lopez. Dumoulin reminds me of Wiggins so i expect him to be there as well, if Sky did the same with him as with Wiggins i really think he could dominate almost as much as Froome is doing.

Aru has an annoying habit of not turning up on big days. It's a big ask to become better than Nibali. Dumoulin too I feel is a long way from becoming a climber and doesn't look to be doing well on the high climbing races yet.
I'll agree on the possibility of MAL, he has looked solid and along with Chaves would probably be a good bet as a future GT winner. However, he still hasn't shown consistency, mainly because of injuries and falls. Hopefully, he can stay upright a bit more.
The there are the Yates. Could there be any other outcome for them other than joining Sky at some point in the not too distant future? Seems unlikely, and then we know we'll end up hating them. They might win a lot of GTs at Sky though. Seem to be on a constant incline over the past couple of years.
