So guys, before I buy it. How does the AI performed?

Also what is this feature where you can give orders to your team mates, and also receive orders from your DS?

Are there any penalty if you won't listen to your director sportif?

While waiting for real name databases and minor stat adjustments, I've fooled around a bit with pro cyclist as GC rider 19 year old.

2015 on normal, I could win all three Cyanide cups no sweat. This time around, I can usually win the first, not the next ones.

Seems like they're riding smarter, but could just be me who are rusty.

I see, also one of the things I hate about the previous versions, including pcm2015 was that during a breakaway, you can't force the AI to help drive the break.

I still don't think you can, but there's some nice indicators on the right now that shows how much effort you should approximately put in currently and how the others in a group is doing. So if you pull too hard, some won't join in the relay due to being tired or unable to ride so fast up front. If you just use the maintain position while everyone else is working and you're clearly one of the favourites, they might stop the relay too. Now you get "warnings" though, seeing as the marker next to the riders will be either green (all's good), orange (issues of some sort) or red (not working for some reason).

I think that's a good feature. Now I have to watch some game play to see if this game is for me. As I am currently enjoying PCM15. Are the stages and jerseys of PCM15 compatible with PCM16?

There's a couple already available through the steam workshop that seem to work reasonably well.

Can u link i can't find them? xD

Easiest way I've found, is when starting a game it will give you the option to select databases. At this point, there's a button that will open up the steam workshop in the steam overlay, which will allow you to search for databases. Click one you like, click the subscribe button, then refresh the database list. It should be there.

Another way is to do it outside of the game, but still through the steam client. In your library, if you click on Pro Cycling Manager (but not play) there should be a list of options to the right. One of those should be the Steam Workshop.
When you can't decide between two options, flip a coin. Not because the result of the coin will choose for you, but because, in that split second before the coin lands, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.

I have to say I'm rather impressed for a Cyanide release. Not without its issues, but it's what last years edition should have been. I guess that could be said for all of them though, right?

Graphics almost look more "cartoon-esque", but it's done rather well and I quite like it. I guess it's something to do with the lighting. Overall, very nice.

AI has issues, as always. Even on the harder settings, it's very easy to win. Benji Naesen on youtube has already uploaded a few videos of him winning easily on the harder difficulties in unrealistic situations. Can confirm, that sort of thing seems awfully common. Some of the race tactics seem to be a bit more in line, and with a larger variation of how the AI will respond to things like break aways it seems.

Career I haven't spent much time in, but as a few guys have complained in here already, the pre planning and objectives sucks. I might just stick to be a pro mode.

Speaking of, this has had a little work. Stats produced seem more realistic by default from a quick look, and the team issues orders now which is cool. There doesn't seem to be any penalty to not doing them though, so it seems only good from a role play aspect. Would be cool if ignoring them pissed team mates off or something.

A lot of little things also make this release nice. For example, the peloton seems to eb and flow a lot nicer than ever before. You're even less likely to pass through other riders, and riding through the cars and bikes around the bunch seems to also be a thing of the past. In some regards, it's almost like they've gone back to the older releases for inspiration, which has paid off IMO. Things like the magazine and rider interviews draw in from earlier iterations, and makes the game feel more alive.

Overall, as to whether or not to get the game, it's up to you. If you have 2015, I wouldn't necessarily rush out to get this; just see how the patches roll I guess. However, if you have anything before that, Be A Pro will be a welcome change, as well as adjustments to the AI and what not. Worth getting in that regard.

Side note; first thing I did during my first race was turn that bloody commentator off. Still the same sound files after how long now? Almost feels like the last 6-8 years.... Ahh well...

Edit: The game also doesn't seem well optimised, especially at higher graphics settings. My 780 struggles to run in on the larger stages on a high-medium... Game defaulted to max and was almost unplayable with the frame lag...

No PCMDaily one, but there are other real names available in the workshop.

A few more first impressions:

I really like a lot of small the info you get from the new interface, like the one about the other riders in a breakaway, the influence of daily form, and also the display of the time limit once the first riders have finished.

What annoys me is that the 0-command to select all riders of the group doesn't seem to be working anymore (is that just me?), and you can't select riders from the classification window anymore. Especially that really sucks if you want to check where your rivals are.

JacLaffite
The 0 command works fine for me. But in the left menu, selection of riders is less visual than it was.

Rammus
I had problems for the 0 button to work also but I've found if I have NumLock on then the 0 on the number pad (usually right hand side of key board) will work. The other 0 doesn't seem to at all.

cunego59
@ Rammus: Thank you, the Num Pad works fine!

Looks like there are some graphical improvements?! It's my impression that the 3D definitely looks - a little bit - better. What do you think?

It does, I think it's mostly because of the bigger sized jerseys and accessories, everything seems to look a bit sharper. For the rest I didn't notice any outrageous differences.

The program crashed when trying to open OfficialRelease. With local.cdb no problem.
