Overall the Gazelle management is content with last week's contract negotiations. We didn't push things to the limit and offered what we thought were fair wages. Many riders rewarded us by not being overly greedy. The amount saved on wages should allow us to bring in the 2 leaders we need to achieve our goals.
Speaking of goals, here they are:
Top 5 in PCT Team Standings [5 points]
Win Scandinavia Open Road Race or Viana do Castelo [4 points]
Top 5 in Nelspruit Classic [4 points]
Top 5 in Japan Cup [4 points]
Top 5 in Tour of the Czech Republic [4 points]
For the first time in our history we go into full try-hard mode. Straight up top 5 promotion is what we aim for and anything less will be considered failure.
More details on the transfer status of our riders will be posted soon.

one of your maybe's is interesting for me, especially for that wage, we might have to get in touch when the time is right.

Leaving Legends
We're sad to announce that aging Gazelle icons Lieuwe Westra and Pieter Weening will leave the team. Back in 2013 they formed the foundation of the squad that dominated the CT and they've been popular with our fans ever since.
Because both riders would like to end their careers in a division where they can actually have some impact, we agreed to release them instead of taking them to PT. We hope a CT team will pick them up in the coming transfer window.

Everything comes to an end, even these legends...
You are doing the right thing letting those guys go I think. I'm really looking forward to having you in the PT

Start of 2016 season
| '15 wage | '16 wage | Available? | Veelers | 250 | 150 | maybe | Kangert | 250 | 230 | maybe | Monfort | 230 | 180 | no | Koren | 100 | 120 | maybe | Furdi | 100 | 100 | no | Hofland | 50 | 50 | no | Oss | 150 | 80 | maybe | Formolo | 120 | 80 | maybe | Senyenov | 50 | 50 | maybe | Konrad | 75 | 50 | maybe | Tratnik | 50 | 50 | maybe | Nardin | 75 | 50 | no | Gretsch | 76 | 60 | maybe | Minnard | 65 | 60 | no | Vangenechten | 50 | 60 | no | Terpstra | 50 | 50 | no | Zordan | 50 | 50 | maybe |
We recently had our yearly contract talks with the riders and are happy with the outcome. We did have to part ways with Westra, Weening, Pozzato, Nuyens and Chainel, which is never easy. But this does leave us with a strong support squad of 17 riders on fair wages and 2 million capspace left to spend on 3 PT-worthy leaders.
Our goals for the season are:
Avoid Relegation in PT Team Standings
Win Liège–Bastogne–Liège
Top 3 in Amstel Gold Race
Top 10 in Giro di Lombardia
Stage win in Giro d'Italia
As always we mostly target the hilly classics and we're thrilled to finally participate in legendary monuments like LBL and Lombardia and in the biggest race in our home country: AGR. Because of this focus we believe we should do everything in our power to sign a world class puncheur. Main candidates are Boasson Hagen or Ponzi.
This leaves us with one more announcement: the 2016 Gazelle shirt. We basically took last years design and made it darker, simpler and more powerful.

May aswell quote what I said last season, same rider but this time we'll definitely want at least a conversation about him over the weekend.
On an unrelated matter I am loving the simplicity of your new jersey, hopefully you can show it off by continuing to get similar success to what we are now accustomed to seeing from your squads.

2m for three leaders. I am jealous.
But also happy to see your focus is on the one area I'll definitely not look into on the FA market. Good luck!

Some great wages you have for already a very well built deep squad for PT and such a cap left for 2-3 stars. I have to say i fear your team the most from promoting ones, would not surprise me if you will attack top5, if you wont mess up somehow.

Thanks mate! It's definitely going to be an important and exciting transfer season for us. The potential is there, but we still need to get the right leaders.

New Era, New Leaders
Soon a new era in the history of Gazelle will start and the past couple of days we've been working hard to sign leaders capable of competing on the highest level.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the riders fulfilling this role are no other than former Tour and Vuelta winner Angel Madrazo and elite puncheur Francesco Ginanni.
We couldn't have hoped for a stronger duo and are looking forward to see them in action!

Absolutely incredible. The PT Promotees keep topping themselves with signings but yours are probably the most outstanding of everybody.

Start of the 2017 season
| '16 wage | '17 wage | Available? | Madrazo | 1300 | 950 | no | Ginanni | 575 | 575 | no | Kangert | 230 | 130 | no | Formolo | 80 | 110 | no | Koren | 120 | 110 | no | Furdi | 100 | 110 | no | Veelers | 150 | 80 | maybe | Senyenov | 50 | 75 | yes | Tratnik | 50 | 70 | maybe | Agudelo | 125 | 70 | maybe | Hofland | 50 | 60 | no | Konrad | 50 | 50 | no | Zordan | 50 | 50 | maybe | De Gendt | 100 | 60 | no | De Greef | 60 | 50 | maybe | Gretsch | 60 | 50 | maybe | Minnard | 60 | 50 | no |
This year's contract negotiations left the Gazelle management with mixed feelings.
Sadly we couldn't come to an agreement with Maxime Monfort, who has left the team. Being Gazelle rider of the year in both 2014 and 2015, Maxime has been of great importance to the team in our PCT period. He will forever be in our hall of fame.
Another departure that will be missed is Jonas Vangenechten. Jonas has been with Gazelle since our very first year and has produced a number of impressive results since then. We wish him all the best.
They are joined by Niki Terpstra, who we decided was not strong enough to ride in the ProTour.
The good news, however, is that all other negotiations went very smoothly. As a result we'll be able to reinforce last year's core with at least one additional leader during the upcoming transfer period. Main priorities will be a secondary GT rider and a strong Flandrien.

Some pretty good renewals there mate. I'm eager to see how you'll build the team, when already having two strong leaders and almost a million left in cap + whatever you end up selling...
Could be a strong contender for something in the region of 5-10 I think!
