Fun fact, that I don't think I've ever shared during my time on PCM.Daily, it's the first initial of my IRL last name. Learn something new every day.
Regardless, that's not important. Deciding on a jersey is.

Oh... I thought it was a stylistic thing.
Keep it. It's cool |

First Injury, A Somber Start!
It took exactly 45 minutes into the first training session before the team suffered its first injury. Most of these athletes have never trained before and it shows.
I know Fernando will be embarrassed, but our faithful fan base deserves to know that the first injury in program history didn't happen on a bike. Lifting weights is dangerous, and that's as much as I will say to save Infanta's dignity.
We have a lot of young and inexperienced guys, so I can pretty much guarantee more stupid injuries are bound to happen. But, having something like this happen on the first day isn't ideal.
Live and learn I guess. Fernando should have a speedy recovery.
Also, Mresuperstar is looking over my shoulder and wants me to remind you to vote for the team jersey and present route ideas for the grand opening event.

Sorry. But I had to vote for a Jersey taking on responsibility as a member, even though every one of them is simply amazing.

Kosmo blasts 'Island Runners' in 30 minute prime time Tobagan special
After some encouragement from his various employers a usually laid back Kosmo Hay told of his embaressment and shock at being culled from the little known Jamiacan based cycling team.
In a lengthy interview a visably emotional and clearly shaken Kosmo highlighted that he felt that there were no riders who could out climb him in the team and was particularly critical of what he felt was a chronically overweight and lazy track based Zak Evelyn.
He ended the interview by saying that he had lost motivation to continue to ride his bike and confessed that he had barely ridden since his uncerimonious rejection.
He did briefly lighten up when shown the current most likely jerseyby saying that he would have unlikely have been comfortable riding in what eludes to essentially riding in Jamiacan national colours.

Ok, a few days not looking to the stories section (it's dead anyways) and now missed the start of this great initiative. Although no funding member I'll support the Island runners in any way possible. |

First Fernando Infanta's injury and now this.

Never a good sign to wake up and see reporters waiting on your doorstep. Instead of answering all their questions because I have better things to do today, Island Runners has issued the following press release on the Kosmo Hay outburst.
Now back to work. Jersey selection is still going on for a few more hours and the grand opening event is on the verge of getting canceled if a route isn't presented.

University of Technology - Criterium
Located in the far eastern bits of Kingston, the University of Technology boasts such famous alumni as Sean Paul and Usain Bolt.
Jamaighlon called the administration on the school, and came up with a circuit that starts Old Hope Road, making it's way through campus, before catching a back road all the way back to down to Old Hope Road. That gives a 7 kilometer-ish lap that's almost perfectly flat, although cynics are quick to point out some inaccuracies.
The only thing Jamaighlon needs to know, is how long a race you want to host.

Looks fantastic. At 7kms a lap, we should probably do like 7 laps for 49kms. The riders aren't in the best shape just yet.

I've been fairly quiet today, but not because nothing has been going on.
First, the team put in a solid training session today, and no injuries! Also, with the voting period now over, I can confirm MR Designs will be our jersey suppliers.
It was a very close vote, so thanks to everyone who participated.
Last and most important news, I got a huge announcement - another sponsorship.
Fly Jamaica Airways | Discount Travel in Certain Regions
Bio: Fly Jamaica Airways is an airline headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica, with flight operations at the Norman Manley International Airport. The current fleet only includes two planes and three destinations (Georgetown in Guyana, New York City in United States and Toronto in Canada).
With this airlines sponsorship, the Island Runners will be allowed to travel to northern South America, eastern United States and central Canada at minimal costs to us. Very useful as we try to get accepted into the CT Division for 2017.

It's fast, it's flat, it's here:
The finish
The roundabout
The view
And hopefully it's attached to this post.

Grand Opening Event Finalized & Team Writer!
The cyclists previewed the course, the fans were given a little sneak peak and the city of Kingston gave us another thumbs up; the Grand Opening Event is a go.
All 18 of our cyclists will be in attendance to meet the local fans, with 17 taking part in the "race" with Fernando Infanta sitting out due to injury.
Team jerseys and t-shirts will be sold and we will be accepting more members during the event to hopefully cover the $750 cost and maybe turn a profit.
Rumors have it a special guest will also be in attendance...
So, we need someone to cover our events and take care of social media. Just like with the photographer, I have three options for you to choose from.
Mresuperstar | Cost: None
While I'll be busy in the team car during the race, after it's over I can type up a summary of what happened. My reports will be shorter, but include more insider information in the tactics used for most races. Our own social media will be created and used occasional, but no live-tweeting.
Jamaican Observer | Cost: None
The local newspaper. Expect great coverage for races close to home with quotes and more in-depth features on our cyclists. However, don't expect a lot if a race is far away (and especially if we don't perform well). In races they don't cover, photographer Sarah Dominguez will do her best to pick up the pieces. Social media exposure will be minimal and we won't have our own account, but the newspaper could live-tweet important races for us.
James McKnight | Cost: $50 per Month
The complete package. A veteran sports pundit in England that never quite made it through the ranks to Sky Sports. He will provide the best coverage as he sees fit including using (our own) social media to it's fullest. He knows what he is doing.
The option with the most votes in the next 12 hours will be hired.
Note: All members of the community can vote.
Thanks = Mresuperstar
Za(r)bel'd = Jamaican Observer
Good Idea = McKnight

Why can't our photographer cover social media as well?
We could tap into her Instagram popularity to reach a wider initial audience which might grow our fan base a little bit quicker.
If she explains the context of her photo's then it would be a start to helping her develop her writing skills and it would show loyalty within the team, not just towards our rider but all team personnel which could help our reputation going forwards if we are perceived as a family unit/ caring type of team. Surely that would help us gain fans like Orica has done with their backstage pass video's and would be another positive we could use to bring in sponsor's as the atmosphere of the team would be a positive to them aswell as any success we get as there could be exposure from that aspect for them as well.

That's a reasonable question and I asked Sarah about it, but she had no interest in the job and said she doesn't have the fundamental cycling knowledge to do the job effectively. Writing up captions on photos is way simpler than writing race recaps.

Wow it's a shame I only discovered this now, would've loved to invest as well, but I'm too late. It looks great so far! Very interested to see how this continues. Keep up the good work!

Stay tuned for the Grand Opening Event happening soon, we will be allowing more members to join and invest. You won't be a founding member, but you will still be a member.
A growing fanbase helps us succeed. Thanks for stopping by.

The community has spoken and we have added on to our staff. Please give a warm welcome to writer James McKnight! All his updates will be colored blue.
McKnight just arrived and we are putting him to work. Today is the big day: the Grand Opening Event. The city is buzzing and fans are already lining the streets.
Even Sarah, our photographer, can't believe the atmosphere and had to share something on her personal Instagram page. (jamaghlon, stop creeping...)
Anyways, before I head out to the event I just want to refresh the budget and keep things up-to-date. Here is where are finances currently stand.
| Revenue | Expenses | Previous Amount | $2,460 | | Jersey Savings | $1,200 | | Team Hat Sales | $30 | | Grand Opening Event | | $750 | Team Writer | | $300 |
Total Remaining: $2,640
First time we've actually made some money - thanks in large part to MR Designs for finishing its design package for us. Now, we can hopefully see the total grow even more during the Grand Opening Opening event!
See you guys there and, if you can't make it, McKnight has you covered.
