Impressive stuff by Van Aert. The guy has an acceleration for the gods and Crossers are trained on to give maximum effort in short time. No surprise that he turns out to be a monster in prologues.

perfectly understandable. cyclocross outside the benelux is as popular as kabbadi and chess boxing
not joking, it's significantly less popular and less known than things like waterpolo and fencing. i realize this may be a shock to belgians
A bit unfair to compare a non-Olympic sport with Olympic disciplines in my opinion. |

The technical course should have helped him, nobody in the peloton knows as good as him how to ride a turn perfectly. |

Hi, maybe this seems not important for the most of you...
But I would like to know the opinion of those who care about it.
This years Vuelta a Colombia is featuring this foreing teams:
Team Ecuador
Team Jamis
Team Rwanda
Amore & Vita
Any of you know something about the african team? riders, recent results? are they even profesional riders and will be able to ride a race like VC?
I mean, Ecuador and Jamis we know them and kinda know what they can do here..
But Rwanda and AmoreV aren´t known here a lot, I know the ucranian team because PCM and think they have raced in south america recently, but for those in Europe or those who like to read about cycling and continental circuits, please, tell us something about them, thanks

I heard the prologue was very technical? Tony never was a cornering god so pretty sure this isnt a shock. |

Rwanda does a lot of mountain biking and weightlifting. They were in Brazil last year for a 2.2 race. That's what I remember from subscribing to their facebook page.

Look at the way Van Aert and Martin took the last corner, Van Aert wins the race there.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Ugh Lefevre hinting that Van Aert should/will turn to the road. Hope not. Van Aert has a legendary cross career ahead of him. Hope he'll never leave that world. |

Boonen and Nys are both huge stars in Belgium but I somehow think that while Nys surely does ok money wise, Boonen earns on a total different level. |

Stybar earned more with cyclo-cross than currently on the road.
If you're the best in CX, you get by just fine. Better than average joe on the road.
Difference is, only 1-2 can earn that money in cross, while on the road there are more cyclist who earn more. Contador, Nibali, Boonen...
And money's not the issue. In the field he'll turn into a legend. On the road, a classics winner, tops. Doesn't even come close.
For me, Nys' career is more impressive than 99% of the road cyclists atm. |

Yeah, I was angry at that as well, he'll ruin Van Aert just like he did with Stybar and Keisse. Let's hope Van Aert goes to Topsport or something, they don't mind that their riders do some cyclocross and he can still ride big road races there.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Martin attacked Van Aert from early on, let's see how a Continental Team with a cyclocross leader defends against one of the richest World Tour teams. But guys like Boucher, Meurisse and Jacobs should be able to do something for Van Aert.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I think he would've had it if not for that false flat finish.
