Yes a bit worried about this one, as mentioned the field of riders are crazy strong.

3/3-10/3 2016 Paris–Nice

7/3 Stage 5/8 Brioude – Saint-Vallier : 205.9 km

Christina Reports: Still in Brioude where we finished yesterday’s stage, in the south part of central France. The old town dates back to early middle age, today a small community of about 6600 people. Construction of La basilique Saint-Julien was started in the 11 century.

The weather is very nice in the Auvergne area today 11°C Sunny and very little breeze.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/DSCF2663c_zpszdkkzpod.jpg

A very long hard stage with many small but hard climbs, surely not everybody will make it through together. With Kenny, Davide and Stefan all able to perform in a stage like this, we will look at who’s got the legs, and plan from there.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/0_zpsejhkyumr.jpg

The morning breakaway including world famous breakaway artist Voeckler, they get 6’30 very fast but the peloton accelerated and the distance melts to 3’31. Malacarne signals that we want to attack, and with Stefan staying to help Kenny, Davide Malacarne is allowed go.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/1_zpsgdpx7apt.jpg

Davide fight rather hard to get contact but close the gap near the third climb. He hangs on for a while to catch his breath, but led by Ricardo Mestre (Liberty Seguros) and Maxim Belkov (Katusha) the pace is increased in the front group and neither Davide nor Voeckler can hang on.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/2_zpsnhnalrpq.jpg

With Davide out of contest, we now just wait for the stars to make a move, while BMC is reeling the rest of the break back. On the last two short but very hard climbs, about 25 km left, Ion Izagirre leads an attack of 5 riders incl. Kenny. A group with Rui Costa is just 17 sec. behind.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/3_zpsb2ori2mo.jpg

Over the next top Martin, Antón, Ellisonde and Costa is alone in front, and gain even more on the descend, under the 1 km sign Elisonde feels great starting the sprint in front.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/4_zpsyvnafvjf.jpg

Kenny did not have enough in the tank to finish on top, he ends up 3th, he was disappointed right after the race, but long term this was a great result.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/5_zpsy7wftigj.jpg

Christina: Great stage for the team with Ellisonde moving into the top 5 GC. But also very disappointing to see the bad form of Davide he looked very strong this morning.

Media Coverage: Martin in Yellow

Paris–Nice: Having left the peloton back 43 sec with a group of 4 riders, Daniel Martin won Stage 5 and the Yellow Jersey in Saint-Vallier. Daniel won in a close sprint beating Igor Antón (Banco Santander) with just ½ a meter.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/6_zpswocmd6lp.jpg

After winning two stages in Giro d’Italia last year resulting in overall top 5, as well as a stage in Tirreno – Adriatico, many expected that Martin is on to a great 2016, this seems to prove them right.

The big loser was again Kwiatkowski, still a pre-race bookmaker favourite, he looks extremely bad and lost another 8'06, destroying every GC hope he might have had.

A good podium for Kenny. Hopefully he can hold on to the top 5 over the last three stages.

As a new team in the WT I'd expect absolutely no results in P-N or T-A. So no pressure.

Tamijo
@Ripley: You are right, but as the Board (read sponsers) demand a top 10 - we hope to fulfill that goal.

6/3-12/3 2016 Tirreno – Adriatico

7/3 Sorrento – Baia Domizia: 164.0 km

Rasmussen Reports: Another start in Sorrento this time heading for beach resort Baia Domizia about 70 km north of Napoli. The oldest known ruins in Sorrento, dates to approx. 600 BC, belonging to the ancient Italian people Opicans before Roman control.
The temperatures have dropped to just 14°C, it is sunny but with a fresh to strong breeze.

The route passes over 2 small cat.4 climbs, we would like Lasse Bøchman to get away and collect some KoM points.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/0_zpsst8iiavz.jpg

Bøchman counters a very early attack, but the timing was not right, they get reeled in. Then Mitchell Lovelock-Fay gets in a breakaway, but the break includes the strong Bob Jungels (Coca Cola) might not be the perfect situation either.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/1_zpswmylwmml.jpg

Mitchell manages to get 9 KoM points on the stage, not enough but he is in the contest. The peloton is afraid of Jungels and set a high pace rather early, Mitchell is caught at the 10 km mark, and it also unlikely that Jungels will hold.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/2_zpsun878swi.jpg

Rasmussen: The fight from Mitchell was fine, but we were no contest for the stronger teams in the sprint, our best was Tony Gallopin (10)

Media Coverage: All the top sprinters fights in Baia Domizia

The top sprinters are all present in Tirreno – Adriatico.
Garmins Elia Viviani was best placed behind Arnaud Demare but with Kittel on wheel, when the sprint started. A deadly train was creeping up on the right side, John Degenkolb with Sagan and Kristoff on wheel.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/3_zpsrxwchol9.jpg

Sagan was tactically the best today, suddenly shifting right and passing Degenkolb on the narrow space near the fence, he shakes off Kristoff.
Degenkolb just holding on to Sagan’s wheel came 2nd, in front of Kittel.

This was Sagan’s 2nd victory of the season after winning a stage in San Luis. Last year Sagan won a stage in Tour de France and two in the Vuelta.

8/3 Stage 6/8 Châteauneuf-du-Pape – La Montagne de Lure

Christina Reports: Today we start in Châteauneuf-du-Pape about 140 km south of yesterday’s finish. Chapelle Saint-Théodoric dates back to at least 10 century, where monks from Avignon constructed Chapel Saint-Théodoric, the building still exist.

It is 14°C with little wind and very cloudy, could look like rain

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/Village_of_Chateauneuf-du-Pape_zps5yzlizzo.jpg

This is one of the hardest stages of this year’s tour, with a very difficult uphill finish to Lure Mountain. In 2009 Alberto Contador won the stage to Lure with 58 sec. to Fränk Schleck. Our only focus is Kenny’s GC.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/0_zpssnhht9bd.jpg

The first half of the stage is casual riding for us, while a breakaway builds up 6’20, but mid stage the situation changes a lot, from now on is it hard to just hold position, with Quick-Step and Cannondale pulling very hard. We have to send Stefan Schumacher back to fill the bottles.
It has started to rain hard.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/1_zpsisnbnrpr.jpg

Over the last hill Ellisonde is not careful enough and stage favorites Martin and Antón as well as Sergio Henao and Boasson Hagen opens up a gap of 50 sec, Ellisonde now has to waste some energy, but gets back.
With 7.5 km left only Quintana and Henao has got a small gap of 17 sec. to a larger favourite group of 27 riders.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/2_zpscqvvojk8.jpg

Ellisonde holds contact and gets home 5th right behind Quintana.

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/3_zpsck9npyl3.jpg

Christina: Very fine stage, Ellisonde did well not losing time, are just 9 sec from 1 to 4 in GC.

Media Coverage: Unlike win in the falling snow at La Lure

Sprinting for victory is very unlikely at such a hard climb as Mount Lure, never the less that is what Colombian champion Sergio Henao from Coca Cola did today, beating Fabio Aru and Daniel Martin both Cannondale, right on the line.
This was Henao first win since one stage and overall 1st. in Tour de Romandie April last year.

Arthur Vichot (FDJ.fr) took over the Mountian Jersey.

Elissonde is awesome so far

Thanks

A very tough stage that. Now hoping Elissonde can hang on through the other stages.

Tamijo
There is a last ITT, is a mountain, but Kenny have not many good ITT's on the CV

AbhishekLFC
An MTT should see a better result than an ITT, hopefully...

Yes, I hope it does

6/3-12/3 2016 Tirreno – Adriatico

8/3 Stage 3/7 Sessa Autunca – Venafro: 164.0 km

Rasmussen Reports: From the beach the caravan have gone just 15 km inland for a start in Sessa Aurunca on the slope of extinct volcano Roccamonfina. The origin of this ancient town is unknown, but a Roman colony was founded in 313 BC.
The weather is just like yesterday, 14°C, Sunny and a fresh to strong breeze.

Interior Cattedrale di Sessa Aurunca, constructed from 1113 to 1183

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/Sessa_Aurunca04_zpsojcwsohj.jpg

Again today the plan is to get a rider in a breakaway, preferably Mike Teunissen

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/0_zps0jmxavvu.jpg

The peloton do not like the early breakaway, in the hard crosswind the pace get very high right from the start, a lot of riders gets caught off guard including several of ours. Tony just manages to hang on getting help from Quaade.

Tony & Quaade

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/1_zps7n56wmyl.jpg

The peloton catch the break and everyone gets back. Lars Bak see an opportunity to get away, but after a while the break gets caught from behind by strong riders Vanmarcke and Pirazzi, Bak will not help them and refuse the relay.

Lars in the original breakaway

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/2_zpsjkuezxr6.jpg

The break is over and when the sprint starts we are as so often before to far back. Our best is Tony (10) just in front of teammate Patrick Clausen (11)

The sprint starts

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/3_zpsafy6qrw7.jpg

Rasmussen Reports: This is tough, has to accept there are too many top sprinters in this race, a top 10 is ok.

Media: Kristoff becomes Green in Tirreno – Adriatico

Jürgen Roelandts set up a brilliant lead out for Lotto’s André Greipel, but it was Alexander Kristoff from Katusha reaping the harvest in Venafro on the 2nd day of the Race of the Two Seas, coming inside on the right side of the road close to the fences, he out sprinted all the other favorites

800m to the line

i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo24/jonta3/4_zps3hlnamiw.jpg

Kristoff have had a great start of the season, this was his third win, after a stage in Down Under and another one in Le Tour Méditerranéen.
