All I need is Nibbles and Majka to go really strong in the mountains and I should win |

I just hope Nibali completely fails. Visconti and Ulissi are great riders though

Well, Tour of California was my 10th Velogames. It was my best Velogames. Overall Rank: 301, picked first 5 GC riders, and using 98 points without Sagan. Also 4th in the league.
Congratz Squire for winning it! |

League table has been updated.
Congrats to Squire on his PCM win and also for claiming the overall Velogames win. Very impressive.
Ian Russell has maintained his commanding lead at the top with another solid top 5 finish in California. The double scoring Giro may shake things up a bit given the possibility of a 50 point swing. |

Thanks guys
With the scoring system as it is, I was pretty confident my strategy of ditching the sprinters would work out well, but obviously didn't expect it to go that well.
Now, the Velogames Giro on the other hand is quite a disaster. Three DNFs and none of the top 4 overall.

Congratz Squire for winning it!
Should be an annual prize for the top California team without Sagan!? |

Thanks for the update. Give the Giro a weeks worth of disaster time then decide if it was reverse psychology!
I refer to my earlier post about my general level of GT performance
It will be tight at the top after the Giro - I might sneak a few points towards the bottom end (maybe) but both Di Lego and Timo are riding in the top 10 - post Giro leader will likely be around 150 points either way. |

Really happy picking Nizzolo and Modolo as sprinters, though not winning they are still in the Giro and taking points. Actually 100th on the 17th stage |

Happy with team, 1-2-3 on the GC, if modolo gets a top 3 next stage he will be 2nd or 3rd (not quite sure) on the points standings, as well as jungels with early points, 555th overall yesterday, fingers crossed for today.

1-5-6-21-22 in Final GC
7 stage wins for my team.
Currently 5th, with a shot of the podium lets how the maths work out. Sergi Carbonell probably won though.
Great Giro anyway for Vini-Zakarini. I even led at one point and was Top 50 Overall so definitely can't complain .
Kinda gutted I missed many early velogames. I started with spring classics one but seeing how I did in California (8th) and here I think I'm peaking for Tour |

Congrats to Squire for winning the league as well as the overall. Impressive.
On a more theoretical level I still think that a more balanced team would have done better generally, rather than just going for GC. However, as things turned out in this case it ended up being sub-optimal. The organizers messed up Stage 2 so that the breakaway stayed clear and even on the final stage my sprinters messed up. Coquard was a disappointment and I didn't realize that Groenewegen was that fragile in the hills.
As for GC, it went mostly as planned. Powless didn't need to drop GC positions on the last day, yeah. Mostly though, it was Morton's fall and DNF when he was 7th in GC that hurt me too.
However, considering how things turned out, my specific choices were less than optimal. Still happy though.
Btw, ringo, I applaud the idea of having a year-long overall classification. I wish you would've done this last year too, when I was crushing in like 9 out of 10 competitions all year. This year I've consciously scaled back the research I'm doing to a minimal. Not an excuse, just a choice that I've made. Last year, it was rewarding but also very tiring. It seems to be going fine anyway.
