Anybody heard anything and Leopold Konig? Contract is up this year at Sky and he's a good solid top 10 GT rider so you'd think a few teams would be interested in signing him

Nothing, no rumours. Wonder what is going on in his case, normally talks a lot with media, but now has not raced for 3 months(some say with knee inflammation, but do not know if that is for that long) and remains silent and does not respond. |

König has a inflammation in his badly bruised knee from a crash in warmup ride before prologue of Tour of Valencia probably due to overtraining. They found out it only in late April. The latest news are he should be back in the full training in a week. His new goals are national championships in the end of May, the Olympics (if he is chosen), Czech Cycling Tour (where Team Sky likely will take part for the first time ever) and then Vuelta.

I agree, he was good in the classics this season and seems happy in that set up so no surprise he signed on for 2 more years

Well they aren't buying all the talent and have shown that whatever program they are running doesn't suit a good chunk of the riders they do bring in, look at how fragile the team actually is with riders contracting illnesses fairly often. I do find it hard that people are fans of any rider on the Astana list

It is bad news considering Sky aims to concentrate much of the talent on their roster, not necessarily because Sky are any worse than Astana or anyone else. Could possibly lead to more stale racing, but remember that this year, Intxausti and Konig haven't really ridden at all, Landa abondaned Il Giro and Froome has been under par. |
