It's always nice to see less known riders perform as well
Nothing's lost for the GC as yet with 2 summit finishes and a long time trial left

**********
This time I missed the finish because of a strange situation in the last kilometer. Chernetskiy and Vakoc had a gap but slowed down. When I saw a Katusha rider close to Vandenborre I thought the two groups had become one. I outsprinted the Katusha guy who I thought was Chernitskiy but with 600 to go Chernetskiy's name arose as winner of this stage. Serious mindf*ck and I was so surprised I forgot to take a screen, apologies for that

I'd say W52 is performing well so far with two guys in the top 10. Efapel has been less striking so far
Thanks sutty, nice to be able to fight for the GC in two races at the same time

Intxausti's certainly growing, hopefully he'll be able to peak at his next race: la Vuelta

Vuelta a Burgos - Stage 2
All 4 flat stages here in Burgos have been made using the same recipe: a flat preamble followed by a short uphill sector which decides what puncher takes it today.
An interesting group containing Dehaes, Turgis and Poulhiès gets a little bit of playing time, their situation is as hopeless as the weather today. Once the break has been neutralised, a high pace is maintained to the foot of the climb towards the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Clunia.
And once again el Imbatido shows he's still got it: 2 wins out of 2 stages for Valverde. Bilbao and Intxausti both grab a top 10 finish. 1 | | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | 3h21'45" | 2 | | Jhonatan Restrepo | Colombia | s.t. | 3 | | Anthony Roux | Direct Énergie | s.t. | 4 | | Pello Bilbao | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 5 | | Jan Hirt | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | 6 | | Jordi van Dingenen | Cannondale Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | | Rubén Fernández | Team Katusha | s.t. | 8 | | Beñat Intxausti | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 9 | | Andrey Amador | Team Sky | s.t. | 10 | | Reinardt J.V. Volta a Portugal - stage 5
This is the first out of two summit finishes. Today's one looks short at first but before the final climb there's already a zone typified by a constant succession of ascents and descents.
Brammeier and Monfort have made it into today's break of the day. Every climb causes a huge fragmentation in the breakaway group...
.. and eventually only Monfort and Vaz remain in front. They hold a gap until the last climb but then they surrender as well, totally drained.
Petilli accelarates early, followed by GC favourites Machado and Chernetskiy. The Portuguese leaves his teammate and the yellow jersey behind and extends the gap steadily.
Machado secures a win and has almost bridged to Chernetskiy in the GC. Both Vandenborre and Guerreiro started their climb slowly but upped their pace on their way up, earning themselves two top 10 spots in the GC. 1 | | Tiago Machado | Lampre-Merida | 3h46'14" | 2 | | Sergey Chernetskiy | Team Katusha | + 27" | 3 | | Joaquim Silva | W52 - Quinta da Lixa | + 2'05" | 4 | | Simone Petilli | Lampre-Merida | s.t. | 5 | | Sam Vandenborre | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 2'22" | 6 | | António Carvalho | LA Aluminios - Antarte | + 2'32" | 7 | | Clément Chevrier | BMC Racing Team | + 2'43" | 8 | | Manuel Antunes Amaro | Radio Popular - Boavista | s.t. | 9 | | Ruben Guerreiro | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 3'06" | 10 | | Omar Fraile | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 3'36" |

Sam back in top 10 in Portugal. Great performance. With some hard stages left, not that far from a podium if everything turns out perfectly.
