Wellens really at the front? BOTD or escaped?

Wellens going to town! Would deserve a victory in the Giro, for sure!

What?

No competition for the win from the peloton and no strong riders in the break. Only 70km riding in the break. It's a good move by Wellens, but the simplest win ever.

There have been plenty of stages that the peloton have let go and plenty of breaks/stage winners weaker than Wellens

If Wellens pulls this off, Lotto is making up fast for their not-so-super season so far , now with Greipel and Wellens in a row!

Maybe not for the GC riders, but it is crazy that no stage chasers decided to join the hunt while the peloton was on vacation

Well the 2 riders had a 4 minute gap when Wellens, Lighart and Didier jumped from the peloton and chased them down so i'm not to sure what you mean

Of course Wellens isn't a weak rider, but the timing to let such a threat just slip away is a pure giveaway.

Blel Kadri won a stage in the TDF a few years ago because he was in a break with maybe the 5 worst climbers in the entire race. I guess that was cheaper.

You mean the 2 riders who have never won anything, spent the entire day in front and lost 7 minutes on a descent? Hardly competitors
