Urrrgh! Why do sports persist in having podium girls? It is so so so outdated

Because it looks nice. The majority of viewers are male.

If you want to look at women then there are plenty of ways to do that, podium girls are something we should of moved passed by now

what?!

1-12 for me. Nice surprise with Top 15 getting points on stage so I get some points for Nick Arndt 12th but he has to do better than this I want him to Top 10 tomorrow Smile

I don't see the point in having podium girls in this day and age, surely we have moved passed the need to have "attractive" women in little dresses handing sportspeople trophies and kissing them on the cheek for photos. It makes no sense at all

Partly agreeing with you. I and my hormones personally wont need that.
The other way they are professional models..they mostly wanted to be model all life.
They got money for it..also possibility to be noticed and move further with other deals.
So it is win-win situation.

Christoph Moreau disagrees Pfft I mean the girls choose themselves if they wanna stand on podiums and look nice and all that, so maybe some tradition dont have to change?
To add to that, saw a program about podium ladies once, and not a single one was unhappy with their job. For some it was even a dream come true to meet some their handsome cycling crushes/heroes.

No secret that I am not fond of the Giro starting in NL, but even more so, they use the space of Saturday and Sunday with the two most boring stages they possibly could create. Im no fan, I dislike sprints and I think any GT should aim to have 3, max 4 pure sprint stages. They are simply not attractive to the masses and particularly not to me and other passionates I know.

Start in Italy, throw in some hills, something like stage 4 in La Spezia and create a spectacle. Its weekend, people have time, but a start in NL and particularly not that badly designed stages are attractive.

Yes, I have elaborated that in one post a few weeks ago I suppose? I can't see anything wrong with pointing it out again... Nothing personal against NL if thats why you have taken the time to find the quotes, and I said in that previous post, its the same (even more so, actually) way I feel about Ireland and Denmark where I live.

Anyways, thats just how I feel. And I think many feel the same way, but again, I could be mistaken.

nothing personal related, I wanted to check myself where/when you posted this as it felt familiar. if I don't it's going to bug me for a while cause I kinda pride myself in my memory and it failing me would be troublesome for me Frown

edit: so I guess it is a bit personal Pfft

no edit: thought I might as well share it if I already found it.

Yeah, along with disliking my posts and liking the others, Im getting used to it! The black sheep. Embarassed
The Betancur-quotes were hilarious, tho, pure gold.
But I have no clue why Luigi felt the need to quote a post I have written, I assume, in 1-2 weeks time? You are perfectly right to disagree with me Luigi, but I haven't seen anything in 2012, 2014 or 2016 so far in those countries I have mentioned to change my stance on it. I am obviously well aware of the economics of it all, but I sincerely hope that the Giro will take the first step of the GTs so stop starting elsewhere and if they do, start places close.

My 0,02 cents on the matter which is now, what, the 3rd time I have said? God forbid it! Pfft

Edit: Cool, I didn't think that either, it just came across that way to me the first time!

Poor bastard ..all GT has tortured you for years. Sprint stages is part/ important part of GT ..and I love it. You can not climb..(no it is boring some times)..attack 3 weeks.
Riders like Cippolini, Cavendish, Zabel, Abdu., Freire, Petacchi, Kittel, McEwen has been waste of time? You definately need to change sport to watch. You boring talks again as nullifed all my anger management program.

A post by probably the most well respected CN-member:
"I didn't even think about tuning in today. No point. Him making it to the end of a weekend stage in the front group is indictment enough".

I stated my opinion and I didn't expect anything else from you, per usual. Fair enough.
