does Roglic need boni seconds to take pink or can he finish ahead of Dumoulin and take the jersey? (ignoring all other riders)
I think he needs bonus seconds.

Geniez +21

Valverde +24
Chaves +30
Zakarin +32
Hesjedal +33
Uran +33
Majka +38
Péraud +38
Landa +40
Pozzovivo +47
Why wouldn't you include him as a GC guy? After that performance in the Vuelta, he may not be the number 1 favourite to win but discounting him doesn't make much sense (especially as you also put Roglic there )
It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Is he really just "going for the TT's" as he's stated pre race or merely deflecting a bit of pressure.
From the little I know of the route many of the stage finishes aren't the toughest gradients and of course there are less summit finishes too. If all goes according to plan he could be in pink after the hilly (though not as hilly as it looks at first glance) TT on stage 9 and then who knows?
Equally he could be out the back the second we hit a 3km+ climb
Ironically, the MTF's is the least of his problems. He didnt have any problem in the Vuelta, but when they finally decided to race on stage 20, he cracked. The Giro has 5 of those stages, at least. |

Yeah but he had done the training in the mountains last year whilst this year is all about Rio, so the stages that you point out are not really the reason why he won't be there by the end of the race

If they just had MTFs like in the Vuelta, I think it would be very different. His team and and climbing skills will probably be exposed in this Giro, especially his team |

I think Dumoulin will still try to go for the GC, but if he gets dropped to like 5th/6th position and the big TT has already been done, he will stop going for it and save energy. Rio is still the main goal.
I'm really happy he won, he had some luck with Kung falling, Cancellara being ill, but he had some bad luck in time trials earlier this season. So whatever, a win is a win And this is a big win |

Still time for him to recover from the stomach issues with a few stages that I can see him having a shot at winning

How about Ludvigsson to take any pressure off Tom by somehow surviviing the tough finshes on stages 6 and 8 and then doing what he's best at in the hillyish time trial in stage 9 to take pink! |

Good one Dumoulin, this is the stuff that turns a great cyclist intoa hero in his country. I didn't watch the prologue, weather was too good. However,
a) I'm so dumb for de-selecting Roglic in velogames
b) so sad for Küng and my daily fantasy squad, we needed that.
c) Kittel to get pink soon

Me too, but I still hope Jungels will score more than him before the end of Il Giro.
A real shame he didn't win, it would have been awesome to see Raboba... Lotto in pink again

true.. After Rabobank withdraw ..and several name and shirt change they have lost mojo. It would have been great..hope. Has I am still hoping that Vanmarcke best races are still ahead (2016 he has been totally behind that hope) |

Rumours he met Trek last month. There's set to be a certain hole there next spring. |

Trek makes sense as I think Sagan goes to Etixx with Specialized stumping up a good part of the wage bill, also Lotto have a reduced budget next season so Vanmarcke leaving is all but certain to happen

If Sagan goes for Etixx next season, how are they going to handle the TDF squad, with both Kittel and Sagan. Sagan also going for the points jersey?
Seems like quite the mess to me, doubt that Lefevre will exclude either of them from the Tour. |
