Not another top sports person with asthma?! Yes, I've seen the studies that say intense physical activity can prompt it...but using an inhaler just happens to have a performance enhancing benefit too
Do we need an independent asthma adjudicator to make the call - I was a bit wheezy after a flat out run up Box Hill the other day. Can I legitimately deploy an inhaler for the next attempt?
What's even worse is that amongst all this there will be some genuine sufferers of asthma who have to use an inhaler and now they're tarred with the same brush. |

There's hope for you yet...or is hope jumping the queue before acceptance?

This is interesting regarding the process of confirming asthma (taken from UCI but of course still open to abuse):
"Terbutaline or other Beta-2 Agonist
If you take terbutaline or any other beta-2 agonist for the treatment of asthma, you must submit a TUE request for asthma and your full medical file through ADAMS to confirm the diagnosis of asthma and/or its clinical variants.
The medical file should include:
- A detailed medical history and clinical review;
- Lung function test with spirometry;
- Bronchodilator response;
- Bronchial provocation tests.
To assist your doctor in completing the correct tests, and providing the correct medical information, we suggest that he or she consults the WADA Guidelines on Asthma."
More details and link from below tweet:
Also check out the ongoing conversation from that tweet for more insights (from completely unconfirmed sources of course but still interesting).
Also note that I believe a lot of common medicines have come off the TUE list in recent years so that probably skews the figures.

I'd love to see if they've got a number for the late 90s-early 2000s

Haha. Was 2009 a post bio passport scratching around for something (anything!) to fill the blood doping void? |

Riders, Teams and the UCI can do a lot to ease the impacts of TUE allegations. Primarily, just say if you/your rider/any rider has a TUE. It's completely legal so what's the harm in saying "By the way, i've got a TUE for X substance because of Y condition."?
There's literally no downside!

Political correctness will kill the world one day.
Kenaugh is an idiot, but he is spot on in both tweets here,not just first one. SKY can do what they want btw. they are a private company, no one can dictate them what they should do with their money.
Only few people care about women cycling and those dont bring enough money to actract companies, get over it. If you want, go watch it and dont cry about it whole days.
PC indeed is something to be very vary off. It has the potential, as I said, to ruin many, many lives. Particular that of men.
I think his second tweet was over the top, but nothing else.
What exactly do Men have to worry about? The possible chance that we will lose the ridiculous privilege that we have with being born a male (higher pay, positions of power) . Even if we had centuries of over the top ultra crazy "PC" we would still most likely come out ahead.
Im not talking about no privilege, but rumours can spread quickly and you WILL get accused of racism, sexism and pedophilia, the latter 2 mostly prone to men, if there are the slightest indications. Particular if you are in a high position, but also your every day 8-16 worker. Losing your job is inevitable. I know people who have been accused of such things. Its no joke, stuff like this ruins lives. Thats why I feel so strongly about this case and why I hate seeing people throwing stuff like that our carelessly.
Its really all I have to say about the matter |

Jeez, what.. get accused of pedophilia, what guys are you hanging around?!
You confuse equality with single acts of lying and deceipt. Those false claims have always investigated and hopefully falisified, however please do not confuse such claims as examples and reasoning against equality.
Kennaugh has meanwhile admitted that he was wrong in tweeting those words.

/end of off topic, we can move somewhere else. (not that i see men endangered or whatever, rather whole society).
Just false. Time for you to hit the statistics, women are still being paid less for the same work on averge than men. Additionally there are enough examples of inequality between the sexes at workplace, daily life etc. But you are right, this topic is not the place for such a discussion.

I dont know how you can disagree on my stance that you should think twice before calling people out since it potentially can have very harsh consequences, but oh well, guess we can agree to disagree on this matter. |

- A MTF on the EDELWEISSSPITZE!?
Holy shit, this race will be insane. Edelweissspitze is the harder side of the Grossglockner plus a cobbled bit on the top - comes out at 21.4km at 8.4%, surely one of the hardest climbs in professional cycling anywhere ever. Even though it will only be a _____/ stage, it will still be carnage.
Yes, it's quite a spectacular route. Sonntagberg, Edelweißspitze, Dobratsch, Kitzbühler and Kahlenberg, so many good climbs. I'll be definitely at sidelines of Kahlenberg. Hopefully Latour is on the startline, first GC win pleeease.

jesus christ, please read again: because you obviously confuse equality and pc with single acts of lying. I have exciplity stated that false claims always have to investigated.

I read your post. Some claims doesnt even see the light of investigations. When its prolific persons, yes, but your ganz normal person? Rumours are many times the worst thing.
Always thought of you as a very balanced poster, but on this matter, I think you have been extremely unbalanced and haven't keep a decent tone. As I said, lets agree to disagree. |

Like the majority of people in the world, I have no interest in Women's Sport. It's not a sexist comment. My opinion is that if I want to watch sport, I want to watch the best of the best. Women's sport is not the best of the best.
It's never going to be commercially successful as it will always have men's sport to compete against.
I have no problem with women's sport and think that women should be given the same opportunities to participate in any sport they want to participate in. My problem is the fact that various people seem to think, at the elite level, it should be equal to men's sport which is never going to happen. |

Shane Sutton doesn't have a leg to stand on, he is sexist and a bully. It's Jess Varnish I feel sorry for, talk about trying to destroy someone's career over a few poor results.

Also why shouldn't Women get more investment. Don't women ride bikes? Don't women watch cycling? So what its not as many as men, why should that matter. Are the women successful? Yes they are. Why should it matter what gender you are in your successful then why not the get the investment you deserve. Pooley was successful and just because she was a woman she didn't get the backing ans support. If she was a man racing then she would probably have had her own team in my opinion. Gender should not matter. How can women's Cycling grow with this type attitude flying around. things need to change people need to accept the changing world where gender doesn't matter.
