TEAM AMBITIONS:

We're happy to be back in Romania, especially after having won this race in 2015 with Arroyo. This year we're facing some very strong opponents, amongst others the British Sky duo Kennaugh-Carthy. Gorka Izagirre is a dangerous guy as well after his 5th place in the Tour of Qinghai Lake.

We're aiming for the GC as well, curious about how well Vandenborre will be climbing. Zardini returns to racing so we don't know how strong he'll be at this moment.

Sibiu Cycling Tour - stage 1 prologue:

The first task for the riders is an ultra-short prologue in the historic centre of Sibiu, a charming town in Transylvania. Located in what may be the most enchanting region of the country, it was founded in the 12th century and has been enrolled in the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2004.

Under a bright sun, Zardini is our first rider to start. By then fast times have already been set registered by Peter Velits and prologue specialist Tobias Ludvigsson. Zardini doesn't have the best legs and finishes in 151st, losing 17" to Ludvigsson.

Co-leader Vandenborre finally gets the opportunity to show his Belgian jersey. His time is solid as well, losing only 2" to Ludvigsson and grabbing a provisional fourth.

The Swede spends a very long day in the hotseat, but nobody is capable of forcing him out. Some riders finish in the same time, losing only some hundreds of a second. Same fate for the Swiss super talent Stefan KÃ¼ng.

Sibiu Cycling Tour - stage 2:

Next up is the first out of two summit finishes. The pack faces a climb towards the Balea Lake, close to where the first ice hotel in Eastern Europe was built.

Let's skip the flat part. Chamorro is the first to attack. Velits tries to counter, but Kennaugh is the only one who manages to bridge.

Vandenborre suffers, but finds a steady pace. He drops Kudus and closes the gap between him and Berhane.

He beats the Eritrean for 3rd, over 2 minutes after Kennaugh has outsprinted Chamorro for the stage and the yellow jersey.
