Apparently that is nonsense and the team are going into talks to renew his contract
my bad then, found it wierd that they would note the sponsors so early.

Any updated rumours on where Sagan will go next season?
Was thinking that Trek would be an ideal fit for him with Cancellara retiring, as they already have a team in place to support a classics man. Would probably need some extra riders though as well.
Etixx would be perfect, as they would now be getting a man that knows how to win spring classics but I'm sure one or two of their other stars would have to go.

Belgian press said "most likely" Etixx yesterday
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Trek makes perfect sense, especially bc they also lack that certain rider you need for le Tour, the one that gets you tv time. Sagan is that rider, on a level with the GT winners. With Cance gone, they also should have the budget. He'll have to take salary cuts probably anywhere, Tinkov was crazy when he made that deal with him.
Etixx sounds good too, but they have Kittel, Gaviria.. looots of quality in GTs. In fact, Kittel & Sagan at le Tour.. not sure either we'll be happy bout it. A little bit the same for classics, Stybar, Terpstra hardly get chances then anymore since - unlike Boonen - Sagan is in prime and deserves all the support since all of etixx hopes and plans depend on him frankly.
So, for the excitement of the cobblez I favor Trek the most too.

I don't think Gaviria would come into calculations as he is good but still unproven and outside of MSR I don't see any conflict, you can take Kittel and Sagan to the Tour as Kittel struggles to get over a speed bump and Sagan isn't a drag race sprinter so no conflict there. Stybar and Terpstra are both better when working for someone else and if teams are watching Sagan one of them can sneak away in a break or late attack. Etixx are a good team but lack a team leader so Sagan fits the bill.
I personally think Trek is a better option as it's all about selling bikes with that team so Sagan would make a good global ambassador for that brand but doesn't Sagan have a personal sponsorship with Specialized? That could be a stumbling block

Why Trek? They need GC rider above everything else and obviously Nibali won't budge. Sagan will not go to Trek, because Trek does not need him.

Why exactly does Trek not need Sagan? He is the superstar of cycling, the most marketable and the best right now... |

Everybody needs Sagan, doubt anyone would be worse with him.
As Strydz mentioned, Specialized sponsorship could pretty well be the most important thing here and i think that could be the biggest factor that will lead him to Etixx. But we will see
Gaviria could be a good water carrier for such a superstar.

Gaviria is etixx longterm project, they want this kid to succeed.
Specialized deal makes etixx deal veeery likely tho, agreed.

Because it's not a GC rider - something which Sagan is obviously not. Segafredo, who look for an top Italian rider and want the team to become more Italian, will insist to sign Nibali or presuade Aru to ditch Astana, which will not happen. Why Trek will need an Classics rider when their sponsor insist on Italian GC - something must give.
Also regarding Specialized - AFAIK Cavendish had personal sponsorship with them until he joined Dimension Data, didn't he?

I know, i was just teasing you
I also would like him to suceed, Etixx is my favourite team in the end. I magine what he could learn from Sagan and their 1-2 punch in lumpy races.

I was on my phone where quoting is annoying and actually referring more to strydz comment, I know you troll me mate
Sagan can work in GTs when his partner is a gt rider. Not so sure it works with a pure sprinter who should be developing ambitions for green at some point surely
Sagan speaks great italian and is very popular there, he rode for Liquigas after all. That is why segafredo could be happy. Meanwhile etixc has some czech millionaire who could want sagan at all cost tho. Plus eti specialized deal makes it just very likely for him to sign at etixx
Definitely a great transfer story tho
If Lefevre wants boonen gobe to free up budget, he may go to lotto soudal or rather qn inzernational team?

I am also not convinced that terprstra and stybar just budge down bc “of better chances“ as outsiders. Tgey are ageing and need to win stuff. This season has made it clear that its all about Sagan. Likwly stybar stays, ego terprstra to leave eventually tho.
Trentin + sagan could win every bunch sprint of every slightly hilly race ever

i dont think sagan will join etixx, it makes no sense.. and yes, trek is a good option with lots of experienced riders who can help him but imagine sagan at sky.. i think the spring classics would be pretty one-sided; also, sky have a GC squad for tdf + sagan who can win green jersey by himself without any major help |

I was going to say Sagan will go to Sky. Thomas doesn't seem interested in the classics anymore. Rowe and Stannard are possible future winners at Paris Roubaix but aren't great on the hillier cobble races. They have Kwiaka for the Ardennes. Sagan would make them the strongest classics team on the road.
They are also one of only a handful of teams who could afford him. |

Wouldn't count out Sagan ending up at the Riis/Bahrain Project, depending how the licensing works out with existing contracts seeing as Sagan has 5 years left on his current Tinkoff deal (according to a tweet i saw, also Majka as well).
I can see the logic in Etixx (classics + specialized) but i don't think it will happen this year. Trek, now without Spartacus, seems more likely. And of course don't count out the big money teams like BMC or Sky, bike sponsorship aside (as has been done before, looks at Cavendish).

Matteo Rabottini will ride for Meridiana once his ban is up in May and apparently Mustafa Sayer will be back and riding for Torku

Also Sayar is less of a fraud then Froome,Contador,Nibali etc. Also remembered what the hypocrite Kittel said in 2013 Tour of Turkey.Hope he will start whining again when Sayar wins. Not forgetting David Harmon as well.Harmon and Backstedt were on the verge of self combustion as Mustafa Sayar raced up that last climb,Harmon letting his true feeling almost slip when he said that Sayar was going to win, "unfortunately" then corrected himself to "for the rest of the peloton".
EDIT:Rabottini back is good news as well.

How many races do we reckon before Sayar is banned again? I give it until shortly after the Tour of Turkey. |
