It was 1997, and Jalabert won La Lombardia later that year. Still, this is a different era, frenchies were due a big win.
Not sure about Démare, but there must be a limit after which you can't disqualify a rider anymore? (barring doping)
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

He won't get disqualified. There simply is no footage that shows him cheating.
The strava seems okay.
And the pictures some media is showing, is absolutely rubbish and those could actually be sued imo.
Having pictures of a different rider, on a different climb and possibly a different year and pretending that it's Demare on the Cipressa is embarrassing. At least it was good enough for stupid Pat Lefevre to re-tweet it...no words for it. |

Gazzetta today with ''The podium of this edition is not at the level of such a big Classic. We need to change the route.'' Ouch..
Partly due to crashes, but I agree: Demare, Swift and Roelandts is very underwhelming for MSR. Get Le Manie or Pompeina in there.
If you only want fancy names on your palmares list, you're not worthy of hosting a monument.
They should let the race decide the winners and not complain about it afterwards.
Yup, thats your opinion! I can't see whats wrong with wanting the best riders in the world to win and podium a race such as MSR.
But as I said, thats not the main reason I would like to have the route changed a bit. Thats due to the extremely dull script of the Poggio and the descent being the only interesting, about 10 kilometres. |

Slow mo gif of gaviria crash, bikehandling of sagan and cance is superb, however I do not believe that neither lost the race due to the crash.

I think it's sad how people are talking down the podium. Sure, probably, it would've looked different without Gav crashing.
Demare had the happiest day of his career, and some people just ruin the fun. Luck is needed in cycling. Some people only get happy when the best win everything...then stop watching cycling. Not always the best wins.

And if the best riders got on podium 100% of the time, cycling would be dead. It would be predictable, boring and terrible to watch.
