I have loved all three of these classics, really wets the appetite and reminds of days of old style classics racing.
The modern day thing is Etixx have strength in numbers but lack that killer touch. It was a really interesting tactical battle out there, Cancellara played it very well - he never looked that super strong but clearly was like Styby and blocked the 2015 champ out at the fin.
Sagan ... looks like eternal second to me at the moment. He lacks the real pace of a Kristoff but lack the motor engine strength of Cancellara. he also is a bit lacking in the team - with Stuyven on fire Canc had a great foil Stuyven played complete bastard to GvA/Fuglsang group yesterday really well.
I think we have great shoot out between BMC/Skybots/Etixx/Trek/Sagan/Lotto in the cobbled stuff this year.

That was actually Vakoc but i dont blame you for mistaking his czech champ jersey for Trek coz I did the same mistake |

Nice race, not so full of action like in 2015, but still finale full of my favourite guys. Cance was so strong! Deserved win and this time Etixx played it right, but still not enough for Å tyby to get a win.

That is sadly nothing new. He aint specialist, he is an all-arounder and lacks a bit here and a bit there in every discipline, where someone is more specialized. Still love to see him everywhere.

Exactly. He won't end up with the palmares he deserves but still it'll be one where most riders can only dream off.
Amazing World Champion, we'll see him just about everywhere. And always ready to fight. Best WC we had in years, perhaps even decades! |

Shall we add Nokere Koerse while we're at it? It's another race that received .HC status this year. My money's on Roy Jans, he's due a big win. Though Groenewegen would always be nice for my fantasy team.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Sénéchal shouldn't go in breaks for these races, he can ride for a top spot if he waits.

Groenewegen probably the strongest here, but positioned very badly. LottoNL again messed things up horribly in the end.

Yeah, he's been sprinting really well, but that's twice this week his team can't deliver him properly. Let's see what he can do in the Hamdzame Classic on friday.

Agree and I've no idea why Senechal gets into these early breaks either.

Thanks for reminding me and also they will be showing Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday as well, which will be of particular interest for anybody that normally watches British Eurosport as it's not on that channel this year.

DDV apparently is canceled due to the Brussels terror level, which means no public events.
It's sad times in so many different ways. But in especially those long public events over 200km just can't guarantee safety and hence there simply can't be any other decision. |

There is like 0% chance that terrorists would care about cycling race and would like to make any attack there, but of course it has to be like this, nobody could take a big risk about it, as we could all regret later.
