I don't think Ukraine's entry will get past the EBU, let alone the voting public. Also, bear in mind that of the 200 million people who watch, only five million or so have actually heard the song before and know its context.
For it to win the national final surely it must have been been cleared by the EBU, now it has been selected people will get to know its context. Jamala actually finished 3rd in the national selection in 2011 behind winner Mika Newton (Finished 4th) that year and Zlata Ognevich who went on to win the national final in 2013 (finished 3rd) so no pressure Jamala.
No, not necessarily. In 2009, Georgia's hip disco anthem 'We Don't Wanna Put In'(see what they did there) was dumped by the EBU after the selection.

will be interesting over the next month then because it is a clear political motivated song but good on them, it was Russia's fault Ukraine didn't have the resources to participate last year.
Its being put to the ESC focus group to see whether they should disqualify it. In my opinion it is on the same level as last year's genocide reminder from Armenia, all they got was a re-name from the rather obvious 'Don't Deny'. 1944 is actually a half decent song, but if she's disqualified: HERE COMES HARDKISS

But there are commentators who explain it, and I can imagine that the topic will maybe even go through the press before the ESC, because of the relationship of Ukraine and Russia
I watched the Danish Melodi Grand Prix live in the city Horsens. It was really exciting, and the atmosphere was INSANE when Lighthouse X (the winner) performed their song. However, I don't think it is a Eurovsion winner, as much as I like it, and I think it will finish around 10-18 in the finale. We would have had a better chance of winning for the 3rd time in Sweden if Anja Nissen or Simone, 2nd and 3rd, had been our entry.
What do you mean, lesser entries? 'A Moment Like This', 'The Way You Are', 'Should've Known Better', all brilliant.

Icebreaker is reaaaaaly good, as is the Hungarian song.
Agree with you, but Afterglow was imo much better, and Laika was cool as well. Without knowing all songs yet (I didn't listened to the Cypriot song and not followed the UK selection) my top 5 are:
1. Iceland
2. Hungary
3. Switzerland
4. Norway
5. Bosnia and Herzegowina

Latvia is making me proud! This was the best national final because international viewers could vote. Of course I voted for Justs 3 times and he won the whole thing! Latvia is on top in my top 5 now.
