I couldn't find another thread on this, so I'll start a new one. If I missed it, feel free to delete this and point me to it.
I am really starting to get pissed off about the "daily form" feature that gives cyclists a form between plus and minus 5 during a 3D race. It is just frustrating to ride 2/3 (200k!) of Milan - San Remo only to find my sprinters having -3/4/5, meaning they won't even get over the Poggio.
What I still have not figured out yet is: Is this value completely random or can I influence it in any way? If it is random, I believe it is a crappy feature, because in a game, your success or misfortune should be in your hand and not up to random numbers. It doesn't even appear to me that the general form has an impact on the daily form, which I not only find very counter-intuituve, it also appears like the general form has no impact on the rider's performance whatsoever...
Maybe you could give me some help here. Perhaps someone has found a way to tweak the daily form once you're in the race and you don't like what you got? |

First of all, if you want you can disable the daily form feature in the options menu.
As far as I know, cyclist designed as team leader is less likely to have a very bad daily form, and in my experience the daily form range is partially linked to fitness level.
In career, you can have a bonus on daily form attending specific stages ahead of the event. |

Thanks, those are helpful hints!
Didn't even think about looking into the options...
EDIT: OK, that only seems to work for multiplayer mode... bummer...

Annoys me as well. For example: I am currently playing with Lotto-Soudal and I am in the Tour. My team leader is Thomas De Gendt and in the first mountain stage I was able to keep up with the second escape (Valverde, Purito, Aru and Costa). Thomas daily form was +3. In the second mountain stage, he got -2 and I lost 4 minutes

Did you try it or do you just believe what Cyanide wrote?
How many errors and bugs are in this game again? |

@Zwerg Nase
It works in Single player, too.
I personally think the daily form hast too much of an impact together with the huge time gaps at the finish on mountain stages especially.
They should really fix the clock at the finish, maybe half the time.
Either way you lose a couple minutes on a singe stage if your rider is in bad form. |

I can confirm it works in career mode in PCM 14. I turned it off a long time ago. Winning with daily form +5 seems like cheating, a -5 by a captain has rage quit potential... I wish it was adjustable, I'd go for a +2/-2 range. |

Turning off works is PCM15! The thing is: all your riders get 0. I only tried it in one stage but that was what happened

To be honest mate, I was expecting "nothing", but that was a good question indeed

I think that's what makes the feature so good. I don't know your stats, but I feel like it adds some realism, or at least unpredictability, when a weaker climber can keep up with the best ones on a really good day, but loses quite a bit on a bad day. I recently scored a 7th place with Arashiro at the FW with a +4 daily shape, which was awesome and which wouldn't have been possible withouth it, but I feel like it's a kind of result that would be possible irl, too. Though I'm glad they made it optional, and I completely agree with Fresh D that Cyanide needs to do something about the time gaps.,,

Well in that, I have to agree with you. And Fresh D is totally correct about the time gaps

Thanks for the clarifications!
I do agree that the time gaps at the finish should be looked into. What bothers me more than large time gaps though is that riders are too easily grouped together. You open up a gap of, say, 20 seconds (displayed below) and when you reach the finish, the game still gives you the same time, that sucks... |

The default setting for this are set quite high indeed. At least you can change it when creating a race though. It is especially annoying on windy flat stages, where if the peloton breaks up into lots of small groups with relatively small differences between each other you can have riders given the time of the winner even if they are two or three minutes down actually. |

It works similar to real cycling.
In real cycling the jury decides how large the gap has to be to get another time.
In the game it is a fixed gap of 20 secs for flat stages.
And due to the 1:10 scale of the stages in this game such a large gap is necessary, else it would mess up the GC on every flat stage. |

Back when one could change the gap in the database, I have been playing with 15 seconds gap for flat stages and it worked fine for me.
In reality often 1 sec gap between riders makes them being attributed to different groups, although in general it is a bit arbitrary I guess. Even if you scale it by 10 (which I know doesn't work really) you get less than 20 seconds gap.
I just think in a normal flat stage you rarely get 20 second gaps in peloton and if you do, then it was probably a demanding stage and the gap should be there. And GC riders should ride at the front of the bunch (like they do irl in important races, finishing around 20th place in flat stages) to avoid losing time. |
