Indeed nice to beat some of the real classics stars
Great start, let's hope for maybe an even better result in Liège
They can certainly be proud of themselves |

Liège - Bastogne - Liège
Next up is La Doyenne, 253k from Liège to Bastogne and back to Ans, with renowned hills such as La Redoute, La Roche-aux-Faucons and La Côte de Saint-Nicolas before taking the last uphill sector towards the finish in Ans.
Without three-time winner Daniel Martin, who won the 2 previous editions, all eyes are on the Etixx duo Gilbert-Alaphilippe and Flèche winner Wellens.
Favourites are still together at La Redoute and are clearly waiting for someone else to attack. This waiting lasts until the Côte de Saint-Nicolas, where a small group breaks clear: Gilbert, Alaphilippe, Sérgio Henao, Aru, Adam Yates, Costa, Fuglsang and Rolland have a small gap at first, but Intxausti has to chase them down himself. The chrono says 40".
All of a sudden, the gap seems to be getting smaller. Just before the flamme rouge, Intxausti joins the group at the front, where co-operation has completely disappeared. But who's gonna take it?
Spoiler Intxausti leaves the group behind inside the final kilometer and benefits of a short moment of hesitation. On his way to his first monument??
Spoiler YES! Beñat Intxausti wins his first monument here in Ans! This is his most prestigious win along with 3 GT stages, but certainly La Doyenne still is a step higher!
Diego Ochoa couldn't stay with Beñat at the Saint-Nicolas but still finishes in 14th, a solid result on his first try.

Wow, that's a massive result, congrats! I always struggle on the hilly classics, currently facing them in my first year with Lampre. Would be more than happy to even come close to your performances

I have to admit they're not my specialty either. Before this, I managed to win both AGR and LBL one single time, having played each classic over 10 times. And without the hesitation in the front I would have been forced to settle for a simple top 10 once again. It's even the first time my I-only-try-to-follow-instead-of-attacking-myself-strategy earns me a podium finish in one of the Ardennes classics.
We're all happy to add this win to both his and the team's palmares

There are some races left before the National Championships, one more important than the other.
See you guys soon for the NC's.

He needed some rest so he's not in the best shape yet. His performance at the NC's will be a big question mark |

They do give a good feeling heading towards the NC's.
Hopefully he can make a bid for the Colombian tricolour |

Magnificent results in the early WT races, Intxausti will be delighted he signed for you. You must be in with a shout for promotion after winning LBL? |

We have refused promotion twice but if we manage to sign some WT-worthy we might consider it this year. Current CQ-ranking standings are in the spoiler
Things look quite good but we definitely need some reinforcement for the WT, especially for cobbled races and sprints.

My advice would be to go for sprinters as a priority. You can build up a cobbles team as you progress over the next couple of seasons.
