Gössner was bad in skiing as well.Ukraine winning wasn't that surprising.Because Ukraine has a pretty good team as well and when in Germany the one who was supposed to ski very fast can't ski that fast(Gössner) it is pretty normal. Also Czech Republic didn't have Soukalova so they were far more back. Also Wierer was very slow so Italy was more behind as well.Imo Wierer skiing slow was very surprising though |

Norwegians owned Wengen.Jansrud winning combined,Svindal winning downhill and Kristoffersen winning slalom.
Also great to see Reebensburg win |

Yeah that was a quite a demonstration of power by my friends up north. Plus Kulm skiing world championships owned by Norway in the team competition.
Kitzbühel this weekend should be great but Kristoffersen is currently the guy to beat for Hirscher. He should remain cool tho and likely to make up points to Svindal, I hope. Wengen is bad turf for him unfortunately it seems.

Korean jumpers got double ( ) at ski jumping FIS Cup competition in Pyeongchang - Heung Chul Choi won ahead Seou Choi, third place for Slovenian jumper Rok Justin. Only 28 jumpers took part in this competition
I can't wait for World Cup team competition in Zakopane, yesterday Poles finally had a great jumps, I hope that Polish team will fight for podium place! |

Many European athletes avoid competing in overseas competitions - that's why there are so few competitors at events in Asia and North America

Well in a competition with 5-6 Turkish jumpers, not surprised...

What a weird race in Kitzbühel.Aksel Lund Svindal and Georg Streitberger are closing the season.Hannes Reichelt is also gonna miss a few weeks from what I heard.
Great to see Beat Feuz finishing 2nd as I am a fan of him. Also good to see Peter Fill winning and Carlo Janka coming 3rd.
In the womens Lindsey Vonn raced to her career 37th World Cup downhill victory, breaking Annemarie Moser-Pröll's (AUT) record.
In Cross-Country:
Sundby beaten by Manificat
Johaug wins again
Biathlon:
Schempp wins sprint race and Shipulin wins pursuit race.Pretty good races by Boe bros.fourcade 28th in sprint and 4th in pursuit.
In womens Podchufarova and Yurlova win sprint and pursuit while Wierer gets 2nd and 3rd on them respectively.
Ski Jumping:Norway dominating again. But I am wondering is why Forfang wasn't on the team. Also Freund not racing this weekend hurt Germany today but it will probably be better in long-term for Freund and Germany

Toni Nieminen is back! He want to take part in national championships. Well, the condition of Finnish ski jumping isn't good, so old stars decide to resume their careers

Japan is another point, in Sapporo there were decent athletes (some missing, but most of the top ski-jumpers took part)

Shiffrin straight from comeback to the top of the podium. Reminds me of Janica Kostelic and also Vonn who also always return even stronger from an injury back to the slopes.
Meanwhile Hirscher with really bad point scoring in Asia makes the Overall World Cup fight against Kristoffersen - much to my dismay - exciting again. Meh.

Hayböck on a winning streak in Finland, already with his 3rd now in a row. Hopefully our new austrian golden boy.
Hirscher wins the show race in Stockholm, his first for 1,5 months and extending the lead on Kristoffersen in Overall World Cup by 75 pts.
Great day for Austria.

Pintaurault with his third win in a row - man of the hour right now, over a second lead on Hirscher, who in turn successfully added some more points to his overall WC tally. Looking good for his fifth strike this season, he'll have shared record number of overall WC wins with Giradelli, Austria's lost son

I hate it that Hirscher will win it at the expense of Svindal, who was his real competition up until the season-ending injury

I don't mind it since I want him to win but ofc Svindal was up to his injury the big faovurite for the overall win and easily the skier of the season up to this point. It's very unfortunate that the crash happened but crashing is a big part of this sport, sadly.
