We can't be unhappy about a podium spot in the GC, the points jersey and 4 stage wins Wink

Good start to the season. Pais Vasco coming up?

GP Cholet - Pays de la Loire (1.1)

i.imgur.com/3aaepyi.png

An on paper rather flat race in western France. Good thing we have brought some fast men with us. They're up against the strongest French teams and their sprinters here.

i.imgur.com/hz4yZRy.png

The rain doesn't discourage an unknown trio to try it from far out.

i.imgur.com/EgVCuNF.png

Bilbao breaks free from the others on a short uphill sector,

i.imgur.com/sHjNOHr.png

and soon, he joins the three in front. They build up a lead of almost 9', but the pack doesn't intend giving the win away to one of them.

i.imgur.com/sHlZnlc.png

With 20K to go, it's Luke Durbridge who has created a small gap. Though the French team of Europcar works hard to bring him back.

i.imgur.com/yZ4hGHX.png

A little more than one thousand metres left and Barbero still has a tiny gap to close...

i.imgur.com/ycSLzQi.png

but he seems to be pulling of a great sprint! Can he still take it?

Great ride from Barbero Wink

On the side: Rojas gets...you guessed it...4th place Pfft

sutty - good results indeed, though such a powerful sprint could've earned us a win as well Wink

Abhiskek - happy to see there's still some certainties in life Pfft

Volta a Catalunya - stage 1

i.imgur.com/3IeC0nR.jpg

i.imgur.com/rN0vQIi.png

This first stage sends us to the hilly region around the seaside resort of Calella, with 3 categorised climbs.

i.imgur.com/vokz0AJ.png

Rob Ruijgh (Giant), Pierre-Roger Latour (AG2r) and Milan Mettens start the battle for the KoM jersey.

i.imgur.com/i1jDivI.png

At the summit of the 1st-category climb, the Dutchman is the only one who (barely) manages to keep the peloton behind him.

i.imgur.com/eylHl9Y.png

Horrible news as we receive the message of Barbero hitting the tarmac.

i.imgur.com/RG2Mfsj.png

He stays down for a couple of minutes, but luckily he gets on his bike again.

i.imgur.com/qYuak1q.png

At the front, the group has split in two with our leader Intxausti caught in the second group.

Our team only has Bilbao left. He's managed to grab the wheel of Geraint Thomas and starts the sprint in second position...

i.imgur.com/iXh9mOw.png

But he's beaten by Michael Matthews at the line.

Volta a Catalunya - stage 2

i.imgur.com/HNm2G3N.jpg

i.imgur.com/wpe84Kx.png

Today's stage has a flat introduction and a rather hilly finale. Time to make up for yesterday's stage!

i.imgur.com/b5UaAdh.png

20K to go, Stéphane Poulhiès (AG2R) is the last to be caught by the pack.

Despite a high pace imposed by Lotto and Astana, nobody manages to create a gap on the climb and all together, we start the descent towards the finish. No attacks, everyone ready for a mass sprint?

i.imgur.com/IRzfYbV.png

A last-minute attack has earned Zardini a nice gap, can he bring the victory home?

i.imgur.com/dJf1asv.png

In the end, it's Barbero who takes it, coming from behind with a strong acceleration!

I'm certainly happy to see at least one stage win in Catalonia for the third year in a row Wink

I'm sorry for the lack of updates recently. After my exams, I've finally found some time to play quite a few tours. No screens as I wanted to continue in a slightly faster pace, but I still got a few interesting results for you guys:

Volta a Catalunya (WT) - Final GC:

8Roman KreuzigerEtixx - Quick-step+ 3'37
9Esteban ChavesTeam LottoNL - Jumbo+ 4'55

Turns out the time lost in the first stage keeps Intxausti off the podium. Still we can't be unhappy with a stage win for Barbero, and a top 10 GC spot for Intxausti.

Critérium International (2.HC)

i.imgur.com/PKc3yxB.png

While some of our riders were giving their best in Catalonia, 7 others took a trip to the beautiful island of Corsica, former host of Le Grand Départ.

This race consists of a pan-flat sprinter stage, a TT and a summit finish at the Col de l'Ospedale. After winning the time trial, former British champion Pete Kennaugh was in a very good position for the GC. Vandenborre also put in a great performance, finishing in 4th.

i.imgur.com/ndZ8Jba.gif

Off to the hills of southern Corsica for the traditional queen stage. As expected, everything is decided on the final climb. Maxime Bouet is the first to attack and nobody is able to follow him. He takes both the stage and the GC win. Our Belgian-Portuguese leader duo Vandenborre - Guerreiro fights its way up and manage to keep several better climbers behind them in the GC, thanks to their strong TT performance.

i.imgur.com/ny50qvb.jpg

No stage win here, but after a last look at the marvellous Ospedale Reservoir, we go back to Spain with a podium and another top 10 GC spot and the white jersey for Guerreiro bagged.

GP Miguel Indurain (1.1)

i.imgur.com/iASJOtS.png

The Basque town of Estella hosts this race in honour of Spain's five-time Tour de France winner Indurain. After a variety of different loops around the area, the riders will climb up to Basilica del Puy for a short but steep uphill finale.

www.procyclingstats.com/uploads/uploads00001/original/Stage-1428081012.png

As expected, the real battle for the win is fought on the steep ramps of the short climb towards the city's basilica.
Zardini maintains a blistering pace and was just in a different league today. He drops every single one of his opponents and grabs his second win of the season after winning the Gran Premio di Lugano earlier.
