This 2017 edition has to key stages: first of them is the 34km time trial. Our team leader Guerreiro has an offday and finishes 2'06" down. Youngster Vandenborre is our top finisher in 14th.
Next and last decisive stage is the one finishing at Alto do Malhao. Vandenborre had moved up to 7th in the GC and would give his all to keep it, while Ochoa and Zardini are looking for the stage win.
Eventually, Zardini has to leave the stage win to world champion Sagan. Ochoa finishes in 5th, while Vandenborre loses 41" but still moves up to 5th in the GC and grabs the white jersey!

The first of three hilly stages ends with a double short climb at the finish. The Caja Rural team is reduced to 1 rider out of 25 at the front.
Intxausti manages to close the gap with the leaders riding a strong uphill sprint and finishes in 5th, with Contador winning the stage.
Next up is the stage ending with a tough climb to the picturesque city of Jaen. Obviously, the bumpy run-up leads to nothing, the GC battle will be fought at the slopes.
Fabio Aru kicks away from Alejandro Valverde for the stage, but GC leader Gallopin puts in a fabulous ride and doesn't allow anyone to take one single second. Intxausti once again finishes fifth.
The penultimate stage can only make a difference if the pace is high enough at the final bump. This is not the case...
... and it's Diego Rosa who takes the stage from the breakaway, while Bilbao wins the sprint for 4th and Intxausti grabs a third 5th place in a row. |

Off to Switzerland for the GP di Lugano. Six laps and 185 kilometres of cycling!
Riding around the beautiful Lugano Lake, it takes quite a while for a group to break clear.
Eventually, we have Salvador Moreno - Colombia and Daryl Impey - MTN ahead of the peloton.
With 40K left, the turquoise boys of Astana start the chase for their leader Brambilla...
The attacking duo stays away until the final lap. We still have Zardini, Chávarri and Ochoa near the front.
It's Zardini who attacks the final ramp with a gap of 20". Is he able to keep up to the finish?
Edoardo's reeled in near the op of the hill by Sérgio Henao - IAM. The others are not that far either. On our way to a group sprint? Zardini's not waiting and accelerates again!
There is the line! In the end Arredondo - BMC came really close but Zardini bags the win. Youngster Mathieu van der Poel - Astana completes the podium. Diego Ochoa sprints to the 7th place.

Off for to a great start in Malaysia, as Carlos Barbero winst the first stage.
After two 2nd places in a row, he grabs another 3 stage wins.
The key stage to Bukit Fraser could be decisive. Our GC leader Guerreiro has an awful day, but where is Barbero?
He's fighting to minimize the gap with the leaders.
Dayer Quintana (Optum) wins the stage, but what about the GC?
