After Martin Fourcade winnning the mens pursuit race ahead of Arnd Peiffer and Quentin Filon Maillet the womens pursuit race will start in several minutes.
Dorin Habert is the favourite imo.She is skiing even better than Makarainen this season so far. Also Soukalova can win today.
But what made me surprise the most was this: (this course times don't take the shooting times into account)
Loop 1 Course Time
Tarjei Boe 5:09.6
Martin Fourcade 5:12.7
Loop 2 Course Time
Martin Fouracde 5:13.6
Tarjei Boe 5:16.8
Loop 3 Course Time
Martin Fourcade 5:11.5
Tarjei Boe 5:14.9
Loop 4 Course Time
Martin Fourcade 5:17.1
Tarjei Boe 5:18.1
Loop 5 Course Time
Tarjei Boe 4:47.3
Martin Fourcade 5:40.0(though Fourcade was celebrating)
Very impressive by Tarjei Boe.Fourcade better watch out.Go Boe!!! |

What a finish!
Makarainen wins.Dorothea Wiere 2nd,Franziska Hildebrand 3rd.Dorin Habert 4th and Soukalova 5th.Franziska Preuss was 6th.
And Gössner wasn't that bad.She made 3 mistakes in the last shooting and she was still 11th. |

True, first good individual race for Tarjei this season, good stuff! Also his younger brother Johannes much faster on the course today than yesterday. Good to see Emil Hagle Svendsen stepping up and comming more and more back to his normal self. Definetely a good race for Norway even though the noble metals didnt happen.
About Fourcade, he still has some more gears to use and he safed the shootings and went like 80-90 % on the course, and the last lap was nothing more than a sunday chilling session for him. So although Tarjei went max, Fourcade definetely didnt. I expect that Tarjei (and the others) still gotta step up their game a notch or two to have any chances at matching Martin. I hope this wasnt Tarjeis peak since then we would have a really boring season. As he is right now easily the closest on matching Martins course times.

Johannes has had a very slow and bad start to the season.Anyway,Fourcade can take the World Cup,if Tarjei dominates the World Championships

I understand you, watching Kowalczyk get 35th places must be so exciting.
In all seriousness, I do think Cross-Country will get more nation competetive during the winter. Norway has a tendency to start the season super-strong. I dont think norway will cover the entire podium in the manly TdS etc.

Hellner has been sick lately, but should be back soon.
I agree with dev4ever, Norway will most likely not be this dominant the whole season, although they will of course be the strongest nation.
They tend to do worse at the championships compared to other races. I will never forget when Norway finished fifth at the women's relay at the 2014 Olympics. They were no doubt one of the biggest gold medal-favourites in the whole games yet they were 53 s from the bronze medal. Too bad there aren't any championships this season.

Yeah, I know. But it was funny.
Another funny race was the women's 10 kilometre freestyle in Falun earlier this year. The best Norweigan finished 22nd.
