Cyclo-Cross Season 2015 - 2016
Ian Butler
Really too bad Van Der Poel (also known as Vague Wink) will miss the first Superprestige race. That probably means he's out of the running for the overall trophy, too.
He's an amazing WC and it's sad to see his season start late because of an injury. He'll lack form for a while, too.

Also, I have this strange feeling Van Aert won't win the Superprestige somehow. Hope i'm wrong, though Pfft Although Nys winning it in his last year would be pretty epic!

Shonak
It'd been sweet if he had recovered in time to get the chance to defend the Superprestige but the crash pretty much ruined his ambitions anyway, he must lack form and even he would have tough time scoring. Guess he'll be hot to repeat the World Championships victory. Obv will be massively rooting for him. Smile

Will be interesting to see if Wout can hold his form, I expect him to do so but last year, he had a bit of a drop in the second half compared to the stellar first half; whilst VDP really rose to unexpected heights around January.

Right now, Van Aert is a cut above anybody else. It really shows you how the events & public needs both Van der Poel and Van Aert in top shape, otherwise it's pretty asymmetric racing (Van Aert > all)

I can only imagine Pauwels to outdo Van Aert in SP but he'll have a tough time.

That's a shame. Was hoping for them to do battle in SP. hope Mathieu recovers quick.

Here, CX God, have Vague. Injure him instead. They're basically the same. Make Vague miss SP races Pfft

Start of the Superprestige today! Check the race before the finale of Lombardia and join in the chat if you want Wink

Well, no surprise. Van Aert is a killer. Wins before Van Der Haar (21 seconds) and Tim Merlier (55 seconds).

Nys a nice fourth. Opposed to the past decennia, he'll need everything on his side to win a race. Van Aert, on the other hand, does as he wants.

Wilier
Van Aert still has a 100% score.

Not totaly unexpected of course, but I was hoping for maybe 3 prep crosses and the worlds. Still, if you had Stybar, Boom and Albert still in this field..

As long as Van Der Poel doesn't return, nobody can stop Van Aert, I think Pfft
We could bring in Stybar, Boom and Albert and it wouldn't do much. All too rusty. Unless they had never gone away, but that's an 'if' too far Smile

Really impressive how Van Aert won the opening race of BPost. It looked like he struggled a bit mid-race, indicated by his troubles uphill and actually being dropped for some time. But his destruction of the 3 remaining riders within in the last lap just showed that he was easily up to the task.

5/5, what a season opener for WVA.
