Super win by Sagan, well deserved. Picked his spot, and timed it perfectly.
Great job by the other medallists Matthews and Navardauskas too. Held their nerve until the end. Spotted Swift near the front at the final turn but he faded, for example.
Big fail by Van Avermaet and EBH to not fully work together - though the fact that Van Avermaet went on both cobbled climbs must have counted against him too.

Sagan's speech about making the world better is the best thing I have ever heard from a sportsman.
Always listed as a little boy but the most mature thing ever said as a fresh WC.
I'll say it once again: you beautiful bastard, Sagan. Beautiful bastard. |

They did hesitate but I think GVA and most certainly EBH were cooked

Sagan's first WC of three. It's a good day.
We'll speak again in 10 years
(remembering this post so I can quote it in 10 years when Sagan has 3 World Titles) |

Well I kinda blame him for attacking too early, so Sagan could counter him.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

At least! If Freire could win 3, this guy wins 4. <3
I just want him to win his 2 monuments next year and be the superman he is in the Rainbow. We need a new world dominator! |

He tried to race "smart" today and save it all for the last kilometres but Sagan beat him to it.
