PCMdaily DB Stat Discussion - PCM15

@Olifardh and Danny

Sure Stuyven's not exactly a world beater and only beat Bilbao, Reza and Sbaragli in his sprint at the Vuelta, so your stats for him are better than mine.

You both agree with Poljanski and Hansen and I was thinking something very similar.

Thanks

Tafiolmo
I know this is a an age old issue, but are most people here happy with Sagan at 79 sprint or think he should be improved to 80, despite the fact he has a great ACC and hill stat?

jandal7
79 with those other stats works perfectly imo
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

As I said,Horner 2013 Angliru was faster than Contador 2008 Angliru.
In 2014 Dauphine he was preparing for Le Tour and was using the Schleck approach of only being prepared for 1 race and in 2015 he was way off form there. He was even behind Serge Pauwels,Eduardo Sepulveda etc.
Or Contador and Froome's just much better than Péraud:

2007: Contador > Nibali
2008: Contador > Nibali
2009: Contador > Nibali
2010: Contador > Nibali
2011: Contador > Nibali
2012: Contador > Nibali
2013: Contador > Nibali
2014: Contador > Nibali
2015: Contador > Nibali

No way Nibali is as good as Contador, not even close. Nibali is overrated.

As I am saying,Contador 2014 would have beaten Nibbles 2014 in the mountains.
And Nibali 2013 was better than Contador 2013.

Contador is better climber than Nibali, that's obvious, but on this level, you can't put them with 2-3 pts of difference. The problem is fact, that 85 overall may be to low. If we had 99, than we could put Conta with 95 and Nibali with 93 and this will be fine. It's not possible to put rider with 82,5 or 81,5 so you need to compromise. Second problem is fact, 84 is to much stat, there's a too much difference between 83 to 84. With better ACC and ATT, Contador is still able to beat Nibali in mountains and wins GT's.

Arberg27
Contador 83
Nibali 81
End of story...

Still no Smile
If it's up to me, Contador will be 85 MO, but we have to be impartial.

Contador in top form would beat Nibali in top form but we are talking about 2015.So 82 seems right for both Contador and Nibali.

And I think Nibali was/is underrated compared to Froome

I don't know. Nibali is an enigma. Sometimes he's fantastic, but other times he's just... not good Pfft
But 2 points lower than Contador isn't justified. Actually personally I wouldn't even put Contador with the best climbers.
Froome & Quintana
small gap.
Contador, Nibali.
Landa Aru etc?

I think.

In their best form it would be like this imo:
Contador
Quintana,Nibali&Froome
Others

Contador's fatigue from Giro along with his crash in Tour led to a bad Tour result. He also crashed in Giro

But for 2015
Quintana&Froome(worse recovery for Froome)(Both of them 83 MO)
Contador&Nibali(Both of them 82 MO)
Others

Well in their best form, perhaps.
But the fact is that Contador isn't the same Contador as he was. He's still good. But head to head with Froome and Quintana, I don't think he can climb any faster than them. Even fresh face to face.
Though we can't be sure of that seeing how they didn't match up properly this season.

Tough call. Contador at the same as Froome and Quintana could happen but I don't think he'll ever win a GT again when Froome and Quintana are at the start line.

Arberg27
The Tour de France is not the only race in the world. Contador is at least as good as Froome and Quintana, last year he beat them big in every stage race, even after a fracture to the shin, this year he beat a very strong Astana team alone. Remember to Nibali, Landa, Aru and Froome has much stronger team, Quintana has Valverde and Contador is one man team, is a huge advantage in the real world and in PCM.

Ian Butler
Perhaps. But winning stage races isn't only up to climbing.
This is purely about the climbing, and then Froome & Quintana are just better, I believe.
Contador has amazing tactics and insights, but pure uphill riding, I'm not sure he could follow Froome & Quintana (in a race where they're all three in the same shape)

In 2014 he had one of his finest forms heading to the Tour after a terrible 2013 season but crashed out badly but still managed to beat Froome in Vuelta
I hope he can bounce back at 2016 to get a 2009 or 2014 like form. Then he would be the biggest favourite imo.

He destroyed Quintana in Lanciano in 2014 T-A.He beated Froome and Quintana in every single stage race last year as well.
On the 3rd week of a GT Froome is weaker than 1st and 2nd week so I am even thinking that Froome might be the worst of the Big 4 in climbing wise with everybody in peak form

Ian Butler
Hmm but that's more because of recuperation.
When Froome goes full retard, nobody can follow, that's what I remember. Smile

Also interesting to see what Landa & Aru's stats will look like.
