Buenos DÃas Amigos,
The year is 2015 and I'm 24 years old, I'm about enter into my second year on board the Orica GreenEdge team ad this year is very important as my contract runs out at the end of the year, so I want to show everyone the talent people believe I have.
Let me tell you a little about myself my full name is Johan Esteban Chaves Rubio and I was born on the 17th of January 1990. The guys on the team gave me the nickname of El Chivo when I first joined the team but by the end of the year they decided that it wasn't quite right, so they decided a more apt name was 'The Smiling Assassin', I feel very honoured that they feel they need to give me a nickname as it makes me feel like I fit into the team.
When I first joined the team I couldn't speak any English, but I learned fast and now I am confident to do interviews in English. My racing career has been a good one for me, I won the 2011 Tour de l'Avenir, which many people say shows I can win the Tour De France in the future, but I'm not so sure about that. Last year I won stage 8 of the Tour De Suisse, but this year the team are expecting a lot more than that.
This is my year, and I plan to do everything I can to make sure it's the best it can be.
Adiós Amigos,
Esteban

Knew it was Chaves even though it's Basso's nick. Will follow as he's one of my faves

Tropicale Amissa Bongo
Hola Amigos,
I'm writing to you as I sit on the team bus after the first stage of my first race of the 2015 season, the Tropicale. It's an interesting race that may suit me if it comes down to the right type of finish on the more difficult stages. As you may guess I'm not the team leader, that role goes to Daryl Impey, who I aim to help as best I can.
So let me tell you a little about the start of my year, the first training camp of the year took place in Southern Spain, where we did almost 1000 kilometres of racing over the space of the camp it was a hard camp riding almost 100 kilometres a day, which is a lot for our first main training block before the season. I made sure that I was fit for the camp as I wanted to make a good impression upon the staff, however a lot of the riders had just come straight from Christmas parties and family meals, and you could tell there were a lot of riders suffering, but I felt good and that must of been seen by the staff as they asked me if I wanted to go to Tropicale, I said yes as I want to make a mark and impress as soon as possible to try and secure my future.
So that's how I'm here , so let's get to today's stage it was a flat windy day that on paper I didn't much like the look of, but I wanted to try and make an early impression, so I thought I'd have a crack at getting into the break. When the break went it wasn't aloud to go very far, so I decided to just go for the KoM points, which I managed to get so that was a great result as I got the KoM jersey for a day. Coming into the final 5 kilometres I saw ahead of us that the road started to go up hill, so I moved to the front and as Giant eased to make it easier for their sprinter, I hit them and was followed by a couple of riders including Navardauskas, we pulled out a decent lead and I managed to hold on for 4th on the stage, putting me into 4th overall 50 seconds behind Navardauskas, who I couldn't follow in the last kilometre. 4th on the stage and the KoM jersey is pretty good for a sprint stage, so I'm over the moon at my result, and Daryl managed to get 5th behind so that was a great result for the team. Sorry about not attaching a photo in all the excitement the team forgot to take one, but I assure you I will include one tomorrow.
Adiós,
Esteban

Tropicale Amissa Bongo
Hola Amigos,
The first stage was a great stage for me as I did a lot better than I was expecting, and now as I talk to you whilst sat on the team bus after stage 2. This morning I was hoping that today would be just as good and I started today wearing the KoM jersey that I was leading after winning the KoMs yesterday. Although as I lined up at the start the organiser of the race came over to me and asked why I wasn't wearing the Points jersey, I was confused as they had told me last night I was wearing the KoM jersey. This caused a rush to change jersey to please the organiser, so that meant I got a second nice jersey.
The race rolled out and immediately the attacks started, the race was taking place over a short circuit that featured a short climb, so I kind of thought I may have a chance of a breakaway later on. Every time up the climb I tried to see how I was feeling and whether I'd be able to make an attack, then on the final time up with just 9 kilometres to go I saw the pace ease as the bunch caught the days breakaway so I took my chance and attacked over the top I was bridged to by Navardauskas, but I decided to press on as I could move up to 2nd overall. In the final kilometre I tried to make sure that I reacted before Navardauskas I managed to do that and just held him off for the win, which was a great moment as it's my first win this year and it gave me the lead in the points jersey. I hope tomorrow that I can defend this jersey and maybe move into the lead on a hilly stage finishing with a slight uphill.
Adiós,
Esteban

Hola Amigos,
44 Seconds! That's what I've got to gain today to try and get the overall lead, and in theory it's possible as the course suits me, but Navardauskas is riding well at the minute. The team have now decided to have me as the team leader, so I can get them to make the race hard to try and pressurize the leader.
With 20 kilometres to go we hit the 4th category climb, so I took my chance and made my move, over the top I had a decent gap so I pressed on, but behind they started to chase hard and they reeled me in with 2 kilometres to go from then on I tried to cling onto the leader, but with 200 metres to go I couldn't follow the final attack for the line, but I'm happy as I gave it everything and couldn't do anymore. I ended up 7th on the stage , but stayed 2nd overall despite losing 20 seconds. Bring on Tomorrow!
Adiós,
Esteban

Hola Amigos,
Today I wanted to try and get myself a stage win as the uphill finish suited my strengths, I knew that it would be hard to get the overall win now unless I get in a lucky break as Navardauskas is riding super strong and his team is riding very well.
The stage was a hard day as the break took a long time to go as there were a lot of riders trying to get into it, we monitored the attacks and made sure nobody was a threat and then watched as Garmin controlled it. With two kilometres to go the road started to rise so I had a go, but then as we hit the steepest part with 1 kilometre to go my legs started to scream with lactic acid, then slowly riders started to pass me, then just before the line I noticed Felline had got a gap and that moved me down the GC, which after the finish I realised meant I'd dropped to 5th on GC after losing 26 seconds, I also lost the points jersey and the young riders jersey, so I was upset about that, but the team told me that I could come back stronger tomorrow.
Adiós,
Esteban
