Short month for the team, now you can sit back and watch how the other CT teams get on in the April stage races ... whilst maniacally stroking a cat of course! Pfft

With your healthy gap in the rankings, followed by that good show in Belarus, it will take some effort for a team to catch you in the rankings by the end of the month.

Yeah, Zimyanna has certainly saved our asses here in April.. that healthy gap has already shrunked bitterly in March, I really look forward to the next rankings update. Not so much stroking my cat but just biting my nails and hoping for the best. Grin

Route of the escape porn and Frankenstein

Despite being tipped as one of the favourite teams and assemblign a strong team in this german race in Frankfurt, we had to deal with major disappointments. None of our guys were featured throughout the day notably, this didn't change in the finish either.

Corioni had a solid wheel in the end sprint but lost it and ended up nowhere. De Backer was best at 21st.

The downward spiral thus continues in May.

Windhoek TT: The T stands for Tennant

No doubt, at the continental level this was a highight for Andrew Tennant. The britisth TT champion arrived in his wonderful jersey and performed well: although the win was just out of reach against a beastly Manuele Boaro, second place is finally a prove of his great abilities.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Windhoek/11.png

Tennant was one of the last riders to hit the road. The duo of General-Kronenburg 1664 proved to be excellent opponents. Boaro already enjoyed some success this season, likewise Rolland. Tennant was in the duty of delivering results finally and he did with this great second place.

Sure, some may see second place as a loss considering his strength, but due to the recent resuls, Strava HQ is happy that finally we snatched some valuable points again.

Viana do Castelo: A few brave men

Portugal hosted a stunning circuit race that puts Flanders in some aspects to shame. With a brutal uphill climb and a dangerous, tricky descent, the Viana do Castelo has been rightly included in this year's calendar and Strava was happy to take its chanes here. That the race was relatively low in attentance only helped us of course: Less rivals the better.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Viana/MG15_Viana_001.jpg

Ever-active Angelo Tulik has made some good memories of going into the breakaway and snatching a win from the Pro Conti-top dogs. We were pleased to see him upfront and his solid efforts were well appreciated in the sun of Portugal.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Viana/MG15_Viana_009.jpg

Still the real race was going on a bit further back. Langeveld had a superb day, following a group of 4 other riders who were on the pursuit of Danny Summerhill. Langeveld took his chances and attacked, Lars Boom of Aegon at his wheel in this picture. Together they managed to come close to race leader Summerhill, but Langeveld was eventually at his limit against former World Champion Boom. In this regard, it was better to set his own pace and finish the race in a great manner.

And indeed he did it! Langeveld made up for the recent debacle that the KBC De Panne Tour and came third; another rider thus snatched some valuable points in short time. We may be finally back on the lucky side..

Gratz to roturn's winner team!

Tour of Scotland: Pfingsten is the Highlander

Despite our clear laid-out ambitions of contesting the sprint stages in the form of Corioni and Favilli, it was once again one of our second-tier riders who saved the race for us.

The first two stages went to Novatek's Serebriakov whilst Corioni was not in the mood for sprinting nor seemed to have the legs. Neither was Favilli in any way close to his usual performance we have come to expect when we remind ourselves of races such as the Benelux Challenge.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Scotland/MG15_Scotland_3_006.jpg

Maybe the team selection wasn't ideal, but regardless of this, Christoph Pfingsten saved our faces when he won stage 3 from the breakaway and also took the KoM Jersey. For the next three stages he was then sitting at 3rd but lost crucial time on the one and only mountaintopfinish on the last day. He got pushed down to 13rd but kept his KoM jersey. Other notable performances were Kriek's time spent in a breakaway and solid stage results by Einsle as a key-domestique to Pfingsten. Low points were without a doubt Corioni and Favilli unfortunately.

GP Herning: Then we fail in Denmark

One of our major races, GP Herning, was up next and Strava was the all dominating team. Until we wern't. And lost control of the race. And lost any sight of a Top 5. And failed our goal. And felt really bad.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/GPHerning/GPHerning010.png

When we planned our season, we had the choice between Geraardsbergen - Bosberg and GP Herning for Top 5. We all remember well Langeveld's great win at Bosberg, seeing now how Langeveld lost place after place to almost drop out of Top 10 was embarrasing, and a major loss considering the win on that other option...

Be that as it may, Strava started the race in well-known fashion. We held the peloton together and set a furious pace. All our riders did a fabulous job. Most notable was once more Tulik.

Later in the race, Generali helped us in controlling the race until Taillefour attacked. Langeveld went with another group but was left to do a lot of chasing. Lesser riders but better cobblers got the better of him; maybe he was riding with too much confidence and too little brains, not enough good legs or just not good enough at all. Things could have been much better maybe if he had put someone in the breakaway, but Langeveld deserved the confidence and had his shot. He just missed it by miles.

6 riders in Top 30. Strong team performance. Geraardsbergen-Bosberg won. GP Herning Top 5 goa missed, as Langeveld came 9th.

Circulo de Juarez: Circlejerk of sprinters, Amigos

Circulo de Juazre was certainly a highlight for most of high-end sprinters in the continental ranks; well if your team has actually looked at the profile. Oddly enough, Belarus wasn't present but this gave Corioni of course the chance to get some points for himself.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Juarez/MG15_Juarez_5_002.jpg

And indeed, Corioni was on a high. Maybe it's because Richie Eazy from the Rancor was present and Corioni is always super motivated to stick it to them argentinian Beef cowboy; Corioni was always present and did his best. Heck, Strava even put up a sprint train later in the race. Look at that picture. Dupont leading out Favilli and Corioni.

Of course Favilli had his brain fart moment in the race where he lost major time, maybe he could have scored some GC points then. Be that as it may, Corioni finished 6th in the GC, his highest stage placing was 3rd. Lots of mass sprints and always beat to the line.

Good racing in Mexico Amigos.

GP Lincoln: Everybody likes Lincoln, Strava and Cats

Booom!

Langeveld dropped the bomb in GP Lincoln. He was racing with lots of anger after GP Herning and he put the competition to the test. The flying Dutchman!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Lincoln/MG15_Lincoln_009.jpg

At 37 kilometers to go, he had enough of all his rivals and attacked. Better even then, De Backer and other Strava riders were in the chasing groups featured as well and held the peloton hostage! Finally a race where it all worked out, as De Backer finished 4th and other guys scored points as well. De Maar, Langeveld's compatriopt and season-long rival, came closest to our dutchie but this year's winner of the Benelux Challenge still conceived over a minute.

Things are looking up, as Lincoln smiles down on Langeveld!

CT Rankings March-April: Right... we dropped down

Not something we like to spend too much time upon but it's worth mentioning nonetheless. Our weak team performances in March and April came just in the right time to see the domination start of fellow CT teams Compal-Merida and Indosat-ANZ. Both of them went clearly past us, we still held 3rd place at the end of the April though. Barely fending off the Rancor.

With the recent resurrenge of Corioni, Langeveld and maybe even Tennant, we still have hopes distant hopes for the overall crown although it's a seemingly impossible taks looking at the point difference of over 200 points.

Mixed results for you. Langeveld with a strong solo show in Lincoln, decent but very consistent stage results crowned by a good GC result and of course the failed goal.

Rankings still look strong although compal and indosat are pushing away. Still, the promotion run continues which should be the main goal this season but I like your optimism to announce the CT crown as goal. Good luck with it! Wink

Tour of Iceland: Strava's Team Ride of the Year

The stage race high in the North was one of the main reasons we signed Andrew Tennant once we had settled it as a key goal of our team.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Iceland/MG15_Iceland_1_008.jpg

We all know that the season so far wasn't that good for Tennant, a second place at Windhoek TT was his best result to date. However, Tennant's peak was planned perfectly: He put in an enormous performance in the opening Time Trial, which was over 30 kilometers, and won 6 seconds ahead of Ignatiev and his teammate Kasa.

We were optimstic but of course three more stages were between us and a nice goal cash bonus. Talk about putting on some pressure then..

The second stage saw a welcome flat bunch sprint, which was pretty uneventful. Tennant proved with a 9th place that he was riding aware of the circumstances and won't let a slip-up happen here. It was necessarcy because the hilly stage was racing, and we were ready to put in the big gear.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Iceland/MG15_Iceland_3_003.jpg

Maybe if we look back at the end of the year, this will be remembered as one of our best team performances of the season. The whole team was keeping check of the breakaway and the peloton; contrary to popular predictions, Tennant and Strava then forced a selection against the puncheurs on their own terrain. With great team work comes great responsibility and thus, Favilli, Selvaggi and Tennant kept themselves in the first chasing group. When it was down to the closing hundred meters of the stage, Favilli and Selvaggi had enough left in the tank to get us a 1-2 and our second stage win. Tennant was kept safely within the first group, distancing the closest runner-up Ignatiev.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Iceland/MG15_Iceland_3_008.jpg

Since stage 4 was pretty uneventful, Strava had an easy day to keep the much desired jersey within our ranks. With some pretty big points, we can leave Tour of Iceland very happy. Additionally to the GC and two stage wins, Selvaggi and Canola also made the Top 20 and Tennant and Favilli made a 1-3 in the points competition. Big yeah!

Assuming this could well been the first and last edition of this race (jjust guessing!), we may just call it Tour de Strava then. Pretty great way to achieve a win goal Wink

Mhm, maybe should ask SN if Tour de Strava is a future sponsor option for a race. blaster-foren.de/styles/default/xenforo/smilies.blaster/scratchchin.gif

What a season you've had. Fantastic. I hope you'll win the CT Ranking, because then I'll be able to say 'I hate Strave!' again, so many times Smile

I really must applaud you for your management skills. First year, first place. Keep it up and I'll root for you in the PT in two seasons!

Oh, and I hate Strava! Grin

Shonak
Thanks. But you know what they say, your hate makes us stronger so just keep on hating us. Pfft

With a packed schedule outside cycling, Strava HQ finally gave up in reporting the races but of course we have always so well followed the adventures of our team - and the final months of the season since the Tour of Iceland have been no less exciting than the previous strong start of the season. This has ultimately meant for Strava a close fight for the Continental Tour crown until the last day of racing, making us miss out on the crown by a narrow margin of 17 points (Novatek 1669 vs Strava 1652).

Oddly enough: With Strava having secured 2nd places in their first race and their last, it seems well fitting we end up second in the Continental Tour rankings. With a certain promotion, we will have now plenty of work to do in the off-season to further continue the rise of the Strava.

Thereby the big late season highlight was Van Wyk's win at the Cigar Brewming Twilight GP. Other than that, Strava had to be content with multiple top showings and many missed opportunities. However especially in the final sprint of the season, the Ruta America Del Sur, Belmokthar and Einsle rose to the occassion to snatch many needed points for the team alongside Corioni. And whilst Strava was in the prime position back then, Novatek managed to overtake it with Jan Barta & Co. in Zuri Metzgte. Congratulations to them. Other notable results were Tour du Faso with its 4-5 by Corioni and Dupont, 10th place of Langeveld in Pland and Tennant's successfully achieved goal of 3rd at the Herald Sun Tour.

What's left to say then? Strava had a plenty of methods of scoring points. We were really, really strong at the cobblez throughout the season, even getting points out of our plenty PCT races (10!). Additionally we have scored in hilly classics, Time Trials and even got a stage race victory with Tennant at Tour of Iceland. In the sprints Corioni had a strong first and last month, but also was often outsprinted by superior sprinters. Favilli had a strong two months (February, June) but little to show for in between. It was noticeable that many teams had a far higher percentage of single riders scoring their points, our best rider of the season came in at 10th in the overall rankings. Who is it?

Sebastian Langeveld
Strava's Athlete of the Year

It was close enough decision between Langeveld and Tennant, the man who secured two of our goals. In the end, the overall season did the trick for us. Langeveld is the leader of Strava's infamous cobbled department, having secured plenty of points. Despite the collective time failure at GP Herning, Strava has done well throughout the season in imprinting the Strava logo into the CT cobblez.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2015-06-08_00030_zpsdwoevxiu.jpg

But Langeveld was not only a prime suspect for snatching away other teams' points at the cobblez events, he was also a great active teammate and helped plenty his mates when they needed him. Be it as lead-out man, as a late attacker or to reel back in a team. He was part of Strava's dream ride up there in Iceland too. He has done some well orchestrated late attacks and achieved further personal success by snatching some Top 10 positions throughout the season at various races.

Lastly, he is also our highest ranked rider at 10th in the Ranking. So that's gotta count for something..

Tour of Iceland
Strava's Group Ride of the Year

Of course Strava's team performance in Iceland is listed high above any other of our team performances this year. We have uploaded the team's numbers up our site, the user response was huge back then.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Iceland/MG15_Iceland_1_008.jpg

A quick recount: Tennant got the leader's jersey and did not lose it the next few hilly stages because Strava's boys did their best to shred the peloton in little pieces, just for Favilli to take his sole stage win on the third stage and Tennant to cement his lead.

Our favourite screenshot of the Year?

Huge thanks to all the reporters who have covered Strava over the past season and has informed us of the team's progress well and thorough. The footage of the race has been superb, in honor of this fact we'd like to show our favourite Strava-featured screenshot. Drum roll please?

Goals

Strava has successfully achieved 4 out of 5 goals. Only GP Herning, where the team was named one of the big favourites, was failed in under unfortunate circumstances.

Analysis For The New Season

Strava has done well in securing points, however we had months of ultrapeaks and abysmal months of not managing much. If we want to stay in the PCT, we'll need consistent scoring, new additions for well-established discplines and to encounter new terrain (mountain love much?). Lastly, we need to adapt to the new calendar and pinpoint our focus races as well as we did last season.

Also, some further good news: Strava in San Francisco has already agreed to an extension of our cycling-project and will continue its sponsorship next season, although it is likely there'll be a change in country-registration licence.

See you on the road.

Oh that opening race where we were still able to beat Strava Smile good times.
Nice overview of an even nicer season. But I expected something like this. Seeing your involvement and quality in CX:AND, this is only logical.
Great to hear the sponsor will continue, it wouldn't be the same without that easy, short name; Strava.

And also...
Well, you know Pfft
