No good riders attending giro d'italia

Hey fellow sporting directors!
I started my 3rd giro d'italia with my team and was looking forward to defend last years surprising victory with my team captain jakob fuglsang.
however when the team rolled out on the first stage it appeared, that every other team had choosen crappy riders for the prestigious stage race.
anyone experienced the same, anyone knows what to do to make it a little more prestigious?

it says something like Fame, TDF = 100 fame |

it says giro popularity 92 with vuelta 88. vuelta hasnt been a problem. anyone knows what can be the answer? thx for your help though, i will try to change it to 95 and see what happens!
tried the edit, went back to a weekly save just before race start, and the same riders were attending... it sucks i guess, anyone knows how to fix this so that next years giro wont be the same again?

Try a Startlist or something. idk how to make startslists |

It's usually the Vuelta where there is little competition after a few seasons. I asked people for advice, check out this reply and the follow-up:

thanks for the reply ripley and for guiding me to the discussion. It seems that the only way to change it is to manually decide which sta races each captain races before every season in the editor?
That seems like a lot of work and takes the charm out the game in my oppinion. |

Well, you wouldn't have to change much, just add one or two big names to the Giro. Check for yourself in the editor, wouldn't take a minute.
Also, what you've described - no top riders at the Giro - seems very rare to me. I've played lots of seasons over the years and don't remember ever having this problem with the Giro, just with the Vuelta, and only after a few seasons went by. So I guess next year's Giro will have serious competition regardless. This allows you to check beforehand and if you feel like making a change, you can. |

Just wondering who were few of the best of the crappy riders the other teams selected?
And why does the Vuelta gets worse riders to start the races after few seasons??

I think the "Vuelta problem" arises after many of the big names (Froome, Contador, etc) retire and there are fewer top stage racers around. And they all want to go to the TdF, some still prefer the Giro or do a Giro/TdF double and so no good riders are left for the Vuelta. Cyanide should probably tweak the algorithm, though I guess it reflects real life. |

I think way to few riders go for a Girp/Vuelta double.
A few go for Giro/Tour but most just go for the Tour on it's own |
