The longest stories aren't the best ones!
I'll try to leave crying sentences and statements out of this comment and to say that this clearly was one great story with an really interesting team (especially coming from a Canadian) and that I enjoyed this much. We all (especially I) come to these moments to make pauses and end stories (due to many different reasons) and it's just like that. I don't have problem with it at all, as it seems to be something normal.
Really looking forward to your next project. Judging by all of these comments around the site, PCM14: Stories sections is really going to be heated up.

Motivation for story writing is the key element, if you don't have it then it is not worth forcing yourself unfortunately |

Well it's sad to probably see this great story end
I've always enjoyed your quality reports with amazing screens
It for once was also something different with a team that didn't fight for the Tour de France win, but a team that slowly wanted to make it to the top with young riders
I hope to see you back with another story for PCM14 |

Classic Beograd - Cacak (1.2)
May 11th, 2014
The profile should result in a sprint finish but the hills on the route might be too hard for some of the pure sprinters in the race! We've brought a strong squad here, with Poljanski and Haller as the two leaders, depending on which way the race goes, more to the sprinters, or more to the punchers.
With most of the race gone, Poljanski makes a move on the final hill to try and push the pace and hurt the pure sprinters. Arashiro follows this move, and both work to try and catch the lone leader, in Dom Rollin, while the peloton chases behind, only down by about 40 seconds to Rollin and 15 to the group of Poljanski and Arashiro with 25km to go.
As the race goes on, the peloton has trouble catching up to Rollin and it looks like the catch could come down to the final metres, while Poljanksi and Arashiro are both caught inside the 10km to go banner.
Rollin holds off the pack for the win! We had tried to set up a sprint train with Medek, Krotky and Haller, but we were stuck way behind in the pack and couldn't make it to the front in time to get a result of any worth.

Well I've been looking for things to kill time with lately, and this is probably the best db on all of the PCMs I own since I like using small teams, so it made sense to just continue this really.

Scandinavian Race in Uppsala (1.2)
May 11th, 2014
With two races in one day we had to split the squads up. Here in Sweden we have probably a stronger team in Hruska, Svorada and Nesveda who should hopefully bring us a Top 10 on this flat classic.
Holub gets in to the days breakaway of 3 riders, and he makes a strong effort to stay away, but the group is brought back in time for the sprinters to take the stage, so we turn our attention to the battle for the win now!
LA Aluminios seem to have the strongest train today, hoping to lead out Mourato. Svorada and Krotky are stuck a little further behind, and Krotky seems to lose the wheel of Okrouhlicky meaning he doesn't have a chance at the win today! Buts also looks fast today as we approach the line.
And Buts takes it, ahead of Landa and Mourato in the sprint! Nesveda came from a long way back to grab 6th, but he looked very fast and if he was in better position, may well have challenged for the win.

Rund um Koln (1.1)
May 12th, 2014
We head to Germany now, where we will be racing in a very similar profile to yesterday. We have brought probably our strongest possible sprint team, with Hunal, Nesveda and Svorada here.
Hunal makes a desperate move late in the stage, and soon gets a gap of 1 minute with about 30km to go. He quickly makes his way past the breakaway group who had been in the front of the race up until now.
But inside the final 15km Hunal is brought back, and the race will be decided in a sprint. We assemble a train and are in perfect position with 3km to the line, with almost no one on the wheel of Svorada.
500m to the line now and the sprint is extremely close. Nesveda is in the lead, but Phelan is coming up quick on the right side.
And Phelan takes the win, a great shame for Sparta who had set up their sprinters perfectly, but in the end just didn't look like they had power to beat the other sprinters. Still a solid result in 2nd and 3rd considering it is a 1.1 race.

Awesome to see this back.
The story section has been a bit more quite than usual in the past year or so, so it's great to see so many old stories rising from the dead.

This FCD really was great, I remember when I did a Plussbank story with it. Loved all the small teams and races.
Great to see this back, really enjoyed reading this. Go Hunal and co! |

I think we had a lot of 2nd places in the first season, but with Hruska in the 2nd season we have gotten quite a few more wins. Thanks a lot for stopping by.

Great to see you back I've noticed that as well, I think its probably cause the game hasn't really gotten better in the past few years, atleast in my opinion.

Yeah, that was 2 years ago The FCD does have a few issues, my sponsors dont think I have any Czech riders on the team apart from Kopecky for some reason, but I love playing as smaller teams and racing in relatively even fields.

Yeah for me pcm 11 is still the best, I've got a career going there where I'm in my 7th season and there's no end in sight.
The mountain AI and the peloton sitting up bug since 12 made the game just so much less enjoyable, in my opinion.
Still I don't want to discourage you now.

If 08 had the 13 3D graphics and the ability to change the speed of the evolution of attributes I would play that forever. Its kind of annoying playing that game, I had several riders grow to 83 Mountain all the way down from 75 MO in 2 seasons. But yeah the sitting up peloton is annoying but Im still enjoying the game for the most part.

Paris - Arras Tour (2.2)
Stage 1
May 18th, 2014
We've brought Haller and Nesveda here for the two stages, and hopefully we can get a result with them.
Vecera gets into the breakaway and by the end of the day, all 3 breakaway riders have 6 KOM points, with tomorrows stage offering no KOM points at all, meaning it is a 3 way tie for the win. But the stage will end in a sprint, so the breakaway is not of much note.
We set up a good train again, as Tronet and Mugerli both look strong on the right side of the road. Nesveda and Haller are close though, both have a shot at winning.
And Mugerli takes the win! Haller in 4th. Exciting sprint, and we placed several riders in the Top 10 again.

Sparkassen Neuseenclassics (1.1)
May 19th, 2014
We brought a fairly weak squad here today, with only 4 riders, due to our race confilicts, with An Post Ras and Paris Arras Tour also going on today, but we have two strong riders in Hruska and Hunal here to hopefully give us a good result in this 1.1 race.
Due to our weak squad, not much could be done about chasing down the breakaway, which included Marcus Burghardt, so Hruska went on the attack himself to try and close them down, with 15km to go. He was so close, but the breakaway looked safe to decide it between themselves.
That wasn't without an amazing effort by Hruska who managed to cover a 1min gap in the last 6km to make it up to the lead duo, but Burghardt was too strong and held them off for the win! Hruska takes an important 3rd, giving us a great amount of points from the race, while Van Staeyen brings the peloton home in 6th, Hunal right behind him.

An Post Ras Stage 1 (2.2)
May 19th, 2014
We've brought a pretty strong team here, with Svorada for the sprints, and Koudela and Poljanski to hopefully be the overall leaders. We decided not to send Hunal here to defend his overall victory from last season, but we think we can win the overall again.
Dolezel is the man for us today in the break and he grabs the most KOM points on the day, already securing us a jersey for tomorrow. He is still in front with 10km to go, but the peloton is chasing hard to get him.
But Dolezel is caught just before the line, and Parisien is able to outsprint the rest to take the stage today.

Today is another flat stage and it looks like the peloton has no urge to chase the breakaway!
Fedi takes the stage ahead of his breakaway compatriot, and Svorada does well in the bunch sprint, taking 3rd place on the day!

Another sprinters stage, we are hoping that the break wont succeed today, we want the bonus seconds to move into the race lead.
But sure enough a breakaway succeeds. Cador of Madison takes the win. The peloton doesn't seem interested in chasing at all or even fighting for 2nd place, so we take all the minor placings today, setting up the sprint. This actually also moves Svorada into the race lead, a costly error for Parisien.

May 22nd, 2014
Another flat stage...
This time we actually have a sprint for first on our hands. All the teams set up trains, our own train is pretty far behind, it puts Svorada at a disadvantage but maybe he can still win!
Well, no. Thomas Rogers of Madison gets the win again, a good tour for their team so far! None of our riders even get in the Top 10, a very poor stage for us, with what we are used to normally. The GC remains the same.

An Post Ras Stage 5 (2.2)
May 23rd, 2014
The all important hilly stage. A break gets away early in the day, and by the half way point it is obvious someone from this group is going to get the win, the only thing is, will they also be taking the overall?
Poljanski separates himself from the pack with 20km to go, and he chases the leaders. He isn't going to catch them, but he has brought the break back close enough, so that he will most likely be the new leader, unless those behind can bring him back!
He crosses the line 2 and a half minutes down on the winner today, but he has a great gap to the important riders behind him, so he takes the race lead, by 53 seconds!

Good race in Germany with Hruska closely missing out on the win in 3rd.
That's nothing compared though to the An Post stage race, where the GC looks great with a double lead and 5 riders in the top ten, but the race isn't over yet I think.
Or is it?
