I've been testing how energy gels work and if they are effective or not... So I made a little video in which I try it and calculate the difference in seconds. (As energy gels make the decreasal of red bar longer, it should be more seconds.
Does anyone want to see more of these tests? e.g how recovery and stamina result in your performance and so forth?Edited by BenjiNaesen on 28-07-2015 13:44
Im sorry but this is not testing environment. Bars length was different, attack start point was different, and day form was different. If you want to do this properly you need to edit two identical riders, disable day form and put them on the same stage. On the straight road set them one next another and attack in the same time (active pause). You dont need frame calculation to see result.
Its kind of annoying that this thing (and other game mechanics) should have to be tested and proven to work. Cyanide should provide a comprehensive manual for the game, fully explaining all elements of the game mechanics and their effects. Its even something they could release now as a PDF.
And they should make the AI moddable too, etc.....

Agreed, luckily though we have people like lordbenji33 and tons of others on this board who test and rework the game for our pleasure

Yep. Its one of those games where the community does a lot of work for the developers. The devs owe a huge debt of gratitude to these guys who make the effort to improve the game.
thanks for the test, but the real question should be how the gel shoud actually work.
in my expirience what the gel does in real life is to give you a recovery boost when you are down on energy, it doesnt increase your energy if the energy its already full, what is the case in the game since you only see the gel usage when you go on the red.
if we take a look as how the game is working we can assume two ways:
-the gel is decreasing the speed of how the red bar decreses, or
-the gel is incrising the stat of the red bar momentarilly and it gives the impression of the red bar going down at a slower pace
but in real life riders take the gel to help them recover energy if they are feeling their legs empty, to speed up the recovery process.
in reality what you see in the game is the gel acting as a doping agent, it allows you t be on the red for longer then your body can handdle.
i really think they should redsigne the way the gel works, but that is only my opinion
