I'd love to see what would happen if Sky committed to winning the Tour with a French rider!
They would do it in 2 years and the rider would be considered a national hero.
If they turn track riders to GT winners..super domestique. Then it would be much more easy with riders with potential like Bardet, Pinot , Rolland etc.
Damn those french have wasted great potential riders..and also few non french riders. |

Imagine Sky signing Bardet and making a reverse Wiggo, gaining weight and improving his ITT and simultaneously improve his climbing. I would laugh my ass of, but honestly, wouldnt be surpirsed! |

Would never happen.
Froome have a few more TdF´s in him and he will probably go for 5-6 wins before he is done.
So the question is who is around then and it wont be a french rider, Team Sky is a english team and they would never take a french rider and turn him into a TdF winner. |

Speaking to French daily newspaper L’Equipe, Team Sky principal Brailsford said, “In my head, there’s a little idea…. We’ve won the Tour with a British rider, but when are we going to see a Frenchman win the Tour? That would be just as enormous.”
He was asked: “That’s your next objective? To win the Tour with a French rider?”
He replied: “Yes, I’d love to win [the Tour] with a Frenchman. I think it has to be done. For the Tour, for France, for the French, for the sport, to have a Frenchman win would be enormous.
“I think about it often. France deserves a French winner.”
As to who that French winner might be, Brailsford put forward the name Romain Bardet.

Yeah, I heard rumblings about that as well Alakagom. Its definetely possibly. And of Barguil, Bardet, Pinot, Rolland etc., I would say Bardet has the highest ceiling of all of them. I may be biased here and Pinot may be the more proven and Barguil younger, but Bardet seems to recover extremely well into the 3rd week, has mad descending skills and is a very gifted climber (was on the attack all day long yesterday and finished with Valv and Conta). He needs to improve his TT significantly, but the trend seems to continue with reducing ITT kms. |

I don't know about that. Last year he was weak in the last week. Also Barquil is one year younger and I also think he's evenly talented if not more. But only time will show. |

I mean its the first time I have seen him on camera this Tour, like with his hair and all. Too be fair an 8th on a sprint stage also goes unnoticed if you dont specifically look out after him |

I think Froome has 1 more Tour win at the very maximum in him before he starts to fall apart

He started relatively early (at least with dope), so I think he will be the favorite for the next 2 years

I don't doubt he will be favourite I just have a feeling things will start to come apart for Froome in a season or two

I for one can't wait to see Coquard win the Tour.
