As sprinter I signed Hofland which had 80 SP.
you have boom there and lutsenko and De Vreese that can help him so you can win everything
But you have obstacles like Kittel, Froome in Tour. Froome in Vuelta. Contador in Giro
And with Boom I Top 5 Paris Roubaix and Top 10 Ronde van Vlandaaren.
With Nibali I won Giro, became 2nd in Tour.
With Landa, I became 3rd in Vuelta.

Sky all the way. Suffer with their bad riders over the first season but then you can have a team with Porte, Froome, Thomas etc. Then with te crazy results you've got you can sign Sagan, Kwiatt and a bunch of other smaller but great riders like Geniez, Vandeburgh etc. |

Really is it that difficult to win a Giro or Vuelta? I haven't played a career that far yet this year but I remember in older PCMs it was pretty easy to win the Giro (playing with Liquigas back in the days, I "wasted" Nibali there as I claimed 1st with him and 2nd with Basso by a big margin...)
Would have thought with riders like Aru, Landa, Van Garderen, Valverde or Pinot in Top form winning Giro/Vuelta should be more than realistic.
Anybody who finished Giro/Vuelta, what did your Top 5 look like?

There was Froome, Valverde in Vuelta.
And Landa's TT stat is too shit so I couldn't win.
In Giro There was Contador but I beat him.
In Tour there were everyone that you can expect.

The funniest is making your own team. Ive made a team were Pinot is the leader. Small budget still lot of fun trying to survive in the World Tour. Got 2nd in Paris Nice with him.
Voeckler finished 15th in the tdu and now aiming for the Giro

Thanks.
I have the feeling there is no point making the Tour a main priority for your best guy unless he is called Froome, Quintana, Contador or Nibali. So e.g. controlling BCM Van Garderen should ride the Giro and Vuelta, same would go for Pinot (FDJ), Uran (Etixx) or anybody else with comparable ratings at any point.
Maybe I should actually consider Astana; Nibali at the tour would face a tough battle, while Landa and Aru wouldn't have it as easy as I might thought at Giro/Vuelta

I chose MTN and I'm really enjoying it so far. A lot of decent sprinters. (For some reason Theo Bos does better than Boasson Hagen and Ciolek, don't know what this is...) I also got myself a ticket for the Giro and the Tour de France in my first season. |

2016 Season with Astana
Nibali (82 MO) win the Giro.
Aru (83 MO) win the Tour. (10 days cobble, 10 days mountain, all reconnitoring training camps)
*1 from training camp
Planning for Aru doing Vuelta as well!
This team is too good when you have a 10M budget at the start of 2016!!!

After playing with BMC for a while, I really liked playing with a WT team, which I hadn't done in a very long time. Now after looking at Tour de France, I have kinda felt in love with my old favorite team AG2R, which was the first team I like, when I started playing cycling games 10 years ago.
Bardet, Pozzovivo and Peraud are strong GC riders, where Bakelants (one of my favorite riders) also have the potential of doing well. I haven't really supported them much lately, cause they're not what they have been. Now I see some potential in them and finally after about 5-7 years I've started an AG2R career

Nice!
Since you got so far in career mode, could you check how is the progression/regression is coming along in 2016? How is Contador rated, how Nibali, how Valverde?

I used to love going with a team like Bardiani or Ag2r, but breakaways seem impossible in this game. The break never makes it, does it happen to everyone else? |

Too boring to pick one of those strong teams. Start at the very bottom and work your way up! Choose the worst team in the game, just 10 or 12 pretty useless riders who won't win anything in the first season. Find the best deals on the transfer market, move up to Conti Pro and then the World Tour where you'll probably have the worst team at first. Every win you pull off will feel like a real achievement.
@Morganho (based on PCM 14): In one-day races the chance for the breakaway to make it to the finish line is roughly 1:100. I have seen it happen maybe once per season, if even that. But in stage races it should happen often enough. Just like in real life, not in the first few stages, when the leader's jersey is at risk - unless it is a really hilly stage and you are in a strong break, the Basque Tour is a prime example. Best bet is the final mountain stage in a Grand Tour, send your best climber.
In fact, this can be abused badly. In my current career I just won the Vuelta with my captain, in 11th place before the stage, 12 minutes behind, by sending him into the break on stage 20, he gained 16 minutes.
In another career one of my young riders, AVG 74, won both the Catalonian and Basque Tour and came 2nd in the Giro, all thanks to such breakaways. In the Volta Catalunya he was 15 minutes behind the leader but the break won stage 5 by 20 minutes.

@Ripley
I always used to start with a lowly team in football manager but as the game got more complex snd took more time i lacked the patience to take them up. PCM can also be quite time consuming to play so i tend to stick with bigger teams. Had a good game with some pro continental teams though, Farnese Vini in 2012 and Europcar in 2013. |

Point taken. I have spent way too much time with PCM over the years. FM, too. |

Agree with Dee-Jay. Don't know how you'd have the patience to do that but kudos to you! I can't even get through half a season with a mildly-overpowered custom team let alone starting from the bottom!

Not necessarily the ideal set up, but I loved playing with IAM in PCM 14...you won't have dominance in any one discipline, but you can have fun in the breaks and having some pretty solid results no matter what you target. You can be solid in week long races with Chavanel, Frank, and Coppel. In the sprints you have Hausser, Pelluchi, and Van Genchecten (or Debusschere not sure which always get them mixed up) for Grand Tours there's Frank and Reichenbach has good stas in the game. If you have the patience (which it appears you do), you could really build them up into a winner |

Nothing wrong with that!
For a longer game, I quite like the idea of controlling a team and changing a sponsor after a year, then trying to remodel the team based on the new requirements. I did it with that Farnese team in PCM 12, switching to Unicredit but struggled getting the right riders immediately.
One other thing, do sponsors pull the plug on you midway through a contract if you are bad, Or do they just not renew the contract at its end? |

Based on PCM 14: Surely the sponsors honor their contracts. However, if the sponsor is unhappy, he can drastically reduce the budget next season and you might not be able to afford your squad anymore. You should see an estimate when you try and extend contracts or hire new riders, so at least you are being warned. |

What do you guys think of Commondale Garmin, seems like an interesting, young although not overpowering team?
