Giro d'Italia Discussion

I hope you have enjoyed the first week flat stages. I bet SotD, Avin and Valverde (in parts) definitely have. Wink

But now the first mountain stage expects the riders.

Ah, another report, great, thanks Roturn Grin

6th stage and worst placement for us so far,9th place. Pfft

Now the torture begins, bye bye maglia rosa, it was fun while it lasted, now we will move to the attacking role hopefully.
I'll be back

Let's call him Durbridge then. Wink

Must correct myself actually.
Was on my mobile and only tried to remember by looking on the result.
But now checked on screenshots again. Was 4 positions wrong.

Better call him Ma. Pfft

Ulanwoski might be more useful in the PT than in the PCT, which is quite funny. Great effort by the guy, he could have won if Guerao(?) didn't block him, highest speed of all good placed riders, only Guardini was faster, but a lot of metres behind.

Now I can only hope my team will join breaks with Topchanyuk and Kononenko, and that Maciej will survive the mountains.

Even though Gasparotto was close to destroying this sprint for the greek I think we can declare him the best leadout rider of the year already. While he is not his last leadout rider he always place him first and then it is up to the greek and Coquard to loose (or in the Giro now, win)

I guess Sotd is pretty happy about how the sprints are going ;-)

Ulanowski seems to have a knack for finding the right wheels in this Giro

Now, let's bring on some mountains!

Given crappy lead outs I have to be happy with 3rd. Just hoping we can start to infiltrate a break or two later on. Again enjoyed vids great work this roturn.

Cool to see the sprints being rather close. Tzortzakis navigated well there in a tricky situation. A brilliant start for Festina, congratulations, SotD!

Guldhammer safe another day is good, I really hope he's up for it on stage 7 and stays in the fight for a top 10. Admittedly I've never had a sub-leader thinking of stats in a GT before, either it has been an obvious podium contender or not a proper leader (80+ in mountains) at all, which makes this really exciting Smile

Thanks a lot for the report and the pace they're coming with, roturn. The videos are truly great for these sprint stages, as they basically tell more than 50 pictures from the final kilometer.

You're getting through these at an impressive rate roturn! (which is good because sprints are boring)

Goss and Guerao really suffering for a lack of strong leadout support, and it just plays into the hands of Tzortzakis who does have a great team around him.

Quite a surprise to see Napolitano bagging a stage win. His first ever MG GT stage win, after all these seasons.

Schleck looks to be in good form, so bring on the Mountains!

About time Napo got one, strange though (even though he had some PCT seasons) considering he was relatively much stronger sprinter before

Well, at least Roelandts sort of tried this time...

Still no breakaway attempts - wonder if my team has realised we lack a sprinter yet? Looking forward to seeing Pinot in his first Mountain stage after his training now.

SotD
To moan, or not to moan - That is the question.

I guess I'm not going to moan about this Smile

Two stagewins and a second place is enough to take the points jersey for a while. Gasparotto is a beast, and I'm really happy I found a method to keep him in my team. Thanks to Tim Dees and Pendleton's in that aspect.

Next stage is likely another moan from me though, as I expect Ricco to be around 7th on the stage, while he normally ends outside the top 10.

So that is why you were shopping him via PMs like mad?
I'll be back

Van Poppel was in a great position. Sadly, he decided to sprint backwards.

Gasparotto is a rider I would love to have but not at his current wage. Some time in the future I will change the outlook of my team, that kind of rider could be very interesting then

Yeah 50k wage is far too much. Pfft

Also at 33 years of age, in far future he is no longer that useful. Wink

Ah, I forgot he was free agent this year and went for 50k, used to his old wage :-p Didn't talk about him, but the type of rider ;-)

Very entertaining Giro so far covered by great reports. I hoped to be part of it with Sella, who came 2nd here already 3 times but for that I was way too late with my wild card applications. Smile
Nice to see a Greek stage win on Greek ground and also Cunego was impressing with his stage win after loosing time earlier on. A shame to see him taken out so early already.
I enjoyed the short sprint videos as well. On that, I don't know if you knew already, but I think you can hide the interface in the replay with the same buttons as in race. At least in PCM 13 that works..
