It can surely be an interesting race, i'll follow it and it's starting in Greece Congrats to Metinvest and Ignatyev for the first pink jersey !
I created the Giro startlist in a PCS-style (looks a bit small, just click on it to see it bigger)

Decent start, Velits lost almost nothing to his main rivals, exactly what I hoped for. Congrats to Avin, big win for his team.

Yeah metinvest and Oz were here for that one. Gaps are relatively small really, decent enough performance from my guys, zero expectations there they dropped Guerao which was not really good but oh well he takes it easy only to go well later.
Congrats metinvest bad couple of races really for Oz big points lost.

Sometimes you regret selling your favourite rider...
But then again, well done Metinvest!!
I didn't do as badly as I feared. Enough to be close enough to leaders jersey with a lot of luck and wins for Ponzi!

Only a minute and a bit down. The race definitely isn't lost and great battle between Metinvest and Oz.

Seeing our team rated with one star before the stage gave me some false hope of a top 8, but we weren't even close, which was as expected though before the stage. 53 seconds aren't too bad, and hopefully it gives room for Guldhammer to attack on the first hilly stage.
Congratulations to Avin! Suspect it's perfect to have Ignatiev in pink of your riders as well, considering the lumpy stage 2 and especially for the hilly stage 4 (if he's able to hold it until then that is).
And thanks for the report, roturn. Looking forward for the next 20! |

First successful MG bet in a while, so thanks to Metinvest delivering! Interesting to see how far Ignatiev can go with the jersey, will likely see him even compete well in bunch sprints on flat stages if the race avoids an early BoTD success while on his back.

Not last? I'll take that any day of the week in a TTT. |

I love this, but just want to point out that Paolo Scarponi (108, Good Energy) is Sammarinese, not Italian.

What an exciting start! A great show down between the top TTT squads, and I'm a little surprised Oz didn't get it. Not a lot of gaps between the top teams there as well, and I am happy with 5th for my guys.
I'm just reading the preview now, and this looks like we're set for a nice battle for the win (although Schleck must have a slight edge). There's going to be a real fight for 4th and 5th though as a lot of guys are pretty evenly matched for those spots. I expect Nibali to end up 7th or 8th, since I have learned to temper my expectations for him. But a top 5 sure would be nice...
Well, I'm excited!

Why did I think this race would be any different. Its kind of a joke how much bad luck I've had this year.

Not bad.
What a fantastic start to the race, dream coming through for our project really. When i saw the Giro profile listed, i thought this is the first week for Ignatiev and not that we only managed to win the TTT, Mikhail even more impressive in 2nd stage to make us dominate and Hacecky making it even better.
Sorry Rjc_43, i suppose you regret even more now, but i am so happy that Ignatiev is actually a PT worthy rider.
Thanks for all the congrats and great reports Roturn! Shame about Cunego and some other guys already loosing time, but i am off to celebrate.
Next stage is 250+kms plus, so i hope Ignatiev can hold onto his lead.

Yeah, this will be the big first week for Metinvest, that I was hoping for..
Gratz, Avin. I've said it before and I will repeat it again: sure we had a solid season so far, but we keep missing out on big points too. I better not expect Goss to win anything here, so our stage win goal will be a matter of luck, I fear.

I don't think you could have scripted a better start to the Giro for Mentivest. Congrats!

No surprise Ulanowski wasn't able to contest this sprint, he's too weak over the hills. Ignatiev is a beast, great rider for a team like Metinvest, and in fact would be for any team.
Kononenko already taking time makes me hope he can go in the break soon without being chased down, and Randrianambinina has set himself the objective to finish last
